Leni Robredo Helps Raise Scholarship Funds For London School Of Economics

EA5B2085-F246-4554-9F6C-3855B63EE4B2LONDON, United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Now it can be told.  The real purpose of Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo in visiting the London School of Economics (LSE) was to help raise scholarship funds for derserving British students.  The fundraising event was sponsored by the LSE Student Council which paid for Robredo’s airfare, accomodations and other travel expenses.

Robredo’s speaking engagement was just an afterthought, a last-minute decision by LSE.

The Adobo Chronicles  has confirmed that Robredo helped raise a total of P3,650 or 50 pounds (GBP).

The fundraising consisted of selling bowls of the famous Leni lugaw (rice porridge) to students and professors of the school.

The LSE Student Council acknowledged that the fundraising event was a losing proposition from the beginning, but said it was going to just charge it to experience.

Leni Robredo’s Speech At London School Of Economics Lukewarmly Received

183A0D0D-9C02-4AED-AA06-4D01EBCE4D69.jpegLONDON, United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronices, Berlin Bureau)- Organizers of Leni Robredo’s speaking engagement at the London School of Economics (LSE) must be twisting and turning in bed tonight following the lukewarm reception extended to the Philippine Vice President.

Outside, a group of London Filipinos staged a protest rally, calling Robredo a ‘fake VP’ and expressing disgust over news from back home that the recount of votes in the 2016 VP Elections was marred with discovery of wet ballots and missing vote logs.

D98EE2B8-CBBD-4F17-9742-3A0A940A079AInside, Robredo tackled the issue of politics and its role in alleviating poverty.  She talked about her programs distributing free lugaw (rice porridge) to poor Filipinos.

Sources present at Robredo’s speech told The Adobo Chronicles that leading economists and some students in attendance walked out in the middle of her talk. They expected a more scholarly speech and were clearly disappointed.

Duterte Orders Closure of EDSA — For Good

D6EB950F-3EEC-4DEB-BB1B-938A435723FAMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has no patience for evironmental destruction, or nightmarish traffic.

Earlier, Duterte ordered the closure and rehabilitation of Boracay, once the country’s top tourist destination because of its white sandy beaches and pristine natural surroundings.  Now, Boracay is the poster destination for pollution and decay.  So he ordered its closure and rehabilitation.

Now, the President is fed up with the nightmarish traffic on EDSA, Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare that. No solution is in sight.  So, Duterte has ordered the permanent closure of EDSA as a way to solve, once and for all, the traffic mess, as well as prevent any more groups to stage protest rallies which aggravate the already parking lot status of the avenue.

Today, the Duterte government put up a sign (see photo), looking for buyers for the entire EDSA.  It’s a prelude to its permanent closure.

It seems Duterte’s meme of “Build, Build, Build” is slowly changing to “Close, Close, Close.”
