Moscow, Russia – Vodka is to Russia while apple pie is as American as it can get. In recent weeks, many U.S. gay bars have boycotted vodka in protest of the Russian government’s increasing crackdown on homosexuality. This, despite the fact that vodka companies in the U.S. have been supportive of many U.S. gay events , including Pride festivities across the country.
In retaliation, restaurants and bakeries throughout Russia have agreed to ban all sales of apple pie in the country. The news was upsetting to the states of Washington, California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia, the top six apple producers in the U.S.
The Ohio-based General Mills, makers of the popular baking and pie product line Pillsbury, has not returned calls from The Adobo Chronicles for comment but is reportedlly preparing a media statement to be officially released tomorrow. General Mills is expected to address the issue on whether the Russian boycott of apple pie will affect its business.
Meanwhile, nationwide sales of Coors beer, once the target of a gay boycott, have registered a 150% increase since the vodka boycott was announced.
New York City – As New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner continues to fight to stay in the race, a newly-released tweet obtained by The Adobo Chronicles is said to be the final straw in the former Congressman’s sexting scandal.
The controversial tweet, contained the phrase, “Call me maybe, baby” with a link to a self portrait of Weiner with no clothes on except for his smartphone barely covering his frontal private parts. There was one big problem with this tweet. He mistakenly sent it to “@lesbiebaby.” On the receiving end of this tweet was Christine Callaghan Quinn, the first female and first openly- gay current Speaker of the New York City Council, another candidate for mayor.
In the latest poll, Quinn is the frontrunner and Weiner has dropped from first to fourth place.
Hollywood, California – Warner Bros. has just confirmed that the sequel to “Man Of Steel” has started filming in Toronto.
Earlier this month, “Man Of Steel” director Zack Snyder revealed at Comic Con that Batman and Superman were set to join forces in this new sequel. The movie will once again star Henry Cavill as Superman – although a new actor is likely to replace Christian Bale as the Dark Knight. Update: Oscar winner Ben Affleck will play the Batman character in the upcoming Superman sequel!
In a surprising announcement, Warner Bros. also said that a third Superhero has been added to this action-packed movie which is expected to hit the theaters in early 2015.
The third lead character will be SuperGay, whose powerful operatic singing voice can sink ships, blow up buldings and practically move mountains. Sources who have reviewed the script tell The Adobo Chronicles that a love triangle ensues in this super adventure. SuperGay falls in love with the good-looking Superman as the three, including Batman, pursue the dark forces that have descended on earth in the city of Metropolitic. The twist happens when SuperGay finds Batman in the locker room after a workout without his mask. Only then does SuperGay find out that Batman was much more good looking than Superman. SuperGay becomes conflicted with his love for Superman and Batman. Our sources refused to reveal how the movie ends to avoid a spoiler.
Openly gay country singer Steve Grand will play the role of SuperGay. In preparation for the role, Grand has taken up intensive opera singing lessons at the Toronto Conservatory of Music.
