Court Of Appeals Issues Gag Order For Rappler To Shut Up

28373F77-FCE4-4BD9-B74A-DBF4EB006242.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines’ Court of Appeals has DENIED Rappler’s petition for a reconsideration of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) revocation of its media licence for violation of the Constitution.

In its decision, the Court clearly stated that Rappler is liable for violating the Constitution in as far as the 100% ownership provision of the law regarding media ownership.

But a desperate Rappler chose to  to re-interpret (or misinterpret)  the ruling, saying that the Court says the license revocation is wrong.

Clearly, the very first paragraph of the decision says the opposite.

So today, the Court issued a gag order to Rappler to stop it from making false interpretations of its decision.

Get that, Maria Ressa?  STFU!

What Court Of Appeals Meant By Giving Rappler “Corrective Period”

611AD227-6779-4E08-8B5C-7149F1F0994CMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  While almost all news media were reporting that the Court of Appeals has denied Rappler’s petition for a reconsideration of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ruling revoking its media license, the online news source is focused on a different headline — that of the Court’s admonition that SEC should give Rappler a “corrective period,.”

So just how exactly can Rappler correct something that was illegal in the first place, violating the Constitutional provision that Philippine media should be owned 100% by Filipinos?

So, The Adobo Chronicles  sought clarification from the Court of Appeals.  Here’s its response:

”We were using ‘corrective period’ as a figure of speech.  What we really meant was that Rappler should be given the chance to correct its vision — since it obviously sees things through a Yellow lens.  Perhaps Maria Ressa and her team should schedule a visit with an opthalmologist or optometrist.”

That’s crystal clear.

Philippine Opposition Senators, MSM Raise The White Flag

A6E5DD2D-5C95-4304-9EC4-252D20DE2DD8MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In contrast to Leni Robredo saluting the Philippine flag at Luneta and unable to sing the national anthem at last week’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), the top five Opposition Senators are raising the white flag — of defeat and surrender.  They were immediately joined by Rappler, Inquirer, ABS-CBN and other Yellow-identified mainstream news media (MSM).

The move came after an entire week of bad news for those opposed to President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration: Duterte delivered a curse-less speech and his approval ratings continue to soar sky-high. Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales retired and was replaced by Associate Justice Samuel Martires. A new Chief Justice is soon to be named, someone  who is most likely an appointee of either Duterte or former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who is now the Speaker of the House of Representatives.  Incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima has been finally arraigned while the Court of Appeals rejected Rappler’s appeal that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revoke its decision to cancel the online news source’s license as a media company. Full-blooded Yellowtard Cynthia Patag came out of the woordwork looking nothing like her Twitter profile picture from centuries ago. Oh, and  did we already mention that Juana Change was almost burned alive during the anti-SONA protest because she came dressed as an effigy?

The Opposition Senators – Bam Aquino, Kiko Pangilinan, Risa Hontiveros, Antonio Trillanes and Franklin Drilon — acknowledged they are no match for  88% of Filipinos who support Duterte. 422A4D44-9AE1-40EA-A31A-8A6283660926

As for Vice President Robredo, the Senators told The Adobo Chronicles, “Bahala na siya sa buhay niya” (She can take care of herself.)

Finally, peace comes to the Philippines!
