MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In contrast to Leni Robredo saluting the Philippine flag at Luneta and unable to sing the national anthem at last week’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), the top five Opposition Senators are raising the white flag — of defeat and surrender. They were immediately joined by Rappler, Inquirer, ABS-CBN and other Yellow-identified mainstream news media (MSM).
The move came after an entire week of bad news for those opposed to President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration: Duterte delivered a curse-less speech and his approval ratings continue to soar sky-high. Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales retired and was replaced by Associate Justice Samuel Martires. A new Chief Justice is soon to be named, someone who is most likely an appointee of either Duterte or former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who is now the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima has been finally arraigned while the Court of Appeals rejected Rappler’s appeal that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revoke its decision to cancel the online news source’s license as a media company. Full-blooded Yellowtard Cynthia Patag came out of the woordwork looking nothing like her Twitter profile picture from centuries ago. Oh, and did we already mention that Juana Change was almost burned alive during the anti-SONA protest because she came dressed as an effigy?
The Opposition Senators – Bam Aquino, Kiko Pangilinan, Risa Hontiveros, Antonio Trillanes and Franklin Drilon — acknowledged they are no match for 88% of Filipinos who support Duterte.
As for Vice President Robredo, the Senators told The Adobo Chronicles, “Bahala na siya sa buhay niya” (She can take care of herself.)
Finally, peace comes to the Philippines!
