Duterte Wants To Convert U.S. Embassy In Manila Into A Mega Mall

912878E4-ADF2-4DAF-AEEF-AC303717827CMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There’s no stopping Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte from pursuing his ‘Build, Build, Build’ program. His next project: convert the U.S. Embassy along Roxas Boulevard in Manila into a Mega Mall.

Duterte unveiled his plan after receiving reports that the Trump administration is planning to close all the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) field offices worldwide.

In a statement issued by Malacañang, the President said that closing the U.S. Immigration office in Manila makes the U.S. Embassy useless. One of the Embassy’s most popular service is the processing of tourist and immigrant visas, as well as immigrant petitions filed by U.S. Filipinos on behalf of relatives still living in the Philippines.

Duterte said he’d like to convert the sprawling U.S. Embassy compound into a Mall Of Asia II, saying that it will employ thousands of Filipinos and attract a lot of tourists from China and Russia. “It’s a win-win situation,” the popular President said.

In Anticipation Of The Revocation Of Its Media License, Rappler Proposes To Buy Adobo Chronicles

Adobo Chronicles, while registered in the U.S., is 100% Filipino owned.

”My business venture with Rappler is in survival mode, and the only way to keep my business operating is to invest in a 100% Filipino-owned company,” Ressa said.

”Besides, Adobo Chronicles fits well into what Rappler has been all about in the years of its existence : propagating biased, fake, and  unbelievable news,” she added,

Ressa is offering $10 Million to buy out the Chronicles.

No word yet from the Adobo Chronicles publisher.

GABRIELA Condemns ABS-CBN Show ‘Minute To Win It’

92A3EB26-FBC9-445C-9E4C-68BB2F2756F4MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – GABRIELA, the erstwhile Philippine women’s advocacy group can’t take it any longer and finally broke its silence over the hit game show on ABS-CBN, “Minute To Win It, Last Man Standing.”

The show is based on the original American game show of the same title. Contestants take part in a series of 60-second challenges that use objects that are commonly available around the house. Those who complete ten challenges would win the top prize of the show, ₱1,000,000.

In a statement issued today, GABRIELA said the show’s title is extremely discriminatory against women just because of its title which all but ignores women.

Asked what show title should be used for the game show, a spokesperson for GABRIELA said her group will be happy with “Minute To Win It: Last Person Standing.”

Moral of the story: always be politically correct.
