Leni Robredo’s Drug War Report: OVP Goes Into Storm Watch Mode

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – The Office of Vice President Leni Robredo called a press conference on Monday to announce there wasn’t going to be a press conference.

Robredo was scheduled to reveal  her report as the designated Drug Czar for two weeks but said she was delaying the announcement in deference to the 6.9 earthquake that hit several areas in Mindanao.

Many believe that Robredo was nevous about releasing her report allegedly because there was really nothing significant or “explosive” in it.

So, the OVP has gone into a storm watch mode, hoping that it will have yet another reason not to release the insignificant report.

As of today, PAGASA (Philippines’ weather bureau) has not announced any implending low pressure area, tropical depression or typhoon that’s anywhere near the Philippines’ Area of Responsibility (PAR),

Robredo and the OVP staff will just have to attend Simbang Gabi (Dawn masses leading up to Christmas day) in the next few days to pray for a change in the good weather.

Ang buhay ay weather-weather lang (Life is just like the weather).

Filipinos Offended By Pope Francis’ Comment Calling Them Smugglers

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipinos worldwide couldn’t be more proud when Pope Francis personally attended the “Simbang Gabi” orgnized by Filipinos in The Vatican.

Simbang Gabi” is a Philippine  tradition involving a nine-day novena where Catholics attend early dawn masses in preparation for Christmas.

Francis, in his message during the Vatican Simbang Gabi, told Pinoys to be ‘smugglers of faith.’

That didn’t sit well with Filipinos in the Philippines and the entire diaspora. “There are smugglers amongst us, but not every Pinoy is a smuggler,” a Filipino now living in Rome told The Adobo Chronicles.

Looks like the Pope hit a nerve. Or shall we say pinched a nerve.

OVP Defends Leni Robredo’s Postponement Of Drug War Report

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – The much-hyped, “explosive” report to the nation by Vice President Leni Robredo on her findings regarding Duterte’s war on drugs didn’t happen as schedued today.

It will be recalled that Robredo, who was “drug czar” for 19 days before being fired, said she would make the revelation after the conclusion of the Philippines-hosted 2019 South East Asian Games.

Robredo convened a press conference but didn’t reveal the report, citing the fact that she was deferring the report because of the 6.9 earthquake in Mindanao. Which pissed many news media reporters.

But the Office of the Vice President defended the non-release of Robredo’s report today,  saying that when  Robredo said she would release the expose AFTER the SEA Games, it simply meant the period between the conclusion of the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines and the opening of the 31st SEA Games to be hosted by Vietnam in 2021.

Makes sense.
