Leni Robredo Disappointed About Inclusion of Senator Leila De Lima In TIME’s 100 Most Influential Persons

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo said she was extremely surprised and disappointed at the inclusion of Senator Leila de Lima among TIME Magazine’s 2017 100 Most Influential Persons.

De Lima, who was not even among the candidates in the magazine’s online poll, made it to the final list, along with President Rodrigo Duterte.  Duterte topped the online poll, gaining 5% of the total votes to take the No. 1 spot.

“What were the TIME editors thinking,” Robredo asked.

When sought for commment and clarification about Robredo’s statement, her spokesperson Georgina Hernandez admitted to The Adobo Chronicles that the Vice President was hoping she would be included in the list, not de Lima.

“The Vice President has gone all out to influence the world’s perception of Duterte, issuing statements left and right and even recording a video message to a United Nations conference criticizing Duterte’s war on drugs,” Hernandez said. “I guess the TIME editors didn’t quite take notice.  Perhaps, our propaganda campaign wasn’t as successful as we had hoped.”

Well, there’s always next year.

Sarah Palin: “I Actually Voted For Hillary”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Now it can be revealed, straight from the horse’s mouth:  Sarah Palin actually voted for Hillary Clinton in last year’s U.S. presidential election.

“Gender affinity sometimes eclipses political or party ideology,” the former Alaska governor told The Adobo Chronicles, following her visit with Donald Trump at The White House.

“I failed in my bid to become the first woman Vice President,” she said, “but I was hoping that Hillary could be the face of women power in America by being the first woman President.”

Palin was so elated for having been invited to The White House, but not necessarily to meet with Trump, but to have her photo taken in front of Hillary’s portrait.

Mission accomplished!

Adobo Chronicles’ Dream Debate Teams For The Luneta Social Media Face-Off

IMG_0656.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Last week, The Adobo Chronicles announced that it was sponsoring a face-to-face debate between the social media bloggers on either side of the political spectrum :  the pro and anti-Dutertes.

Originally, the anti-Duterte team wanted to hide behind identical face masks to protect their anonymity.

But there’s good news! The anti-Duterte team said they are willing to field their “out” members to debate the equally out pro-Duterte bloggers.

So we’ve assembled what we call the “dream teams” for this once-in-a-lifetime” social media blogger debate to be held at the Luneta Grandstand, with the exact date still to be determined.

Here’s our line-up:

RED TEAM, Pro-Duterte

Atty. Bruce Rivera, Sass Rogando Sasot, MJ Quiambao, Vivian Velez, Cocky Rocky, Antonio Contreras and Thinking Pinoy.

YELLOW TEAM, Anti-Duterte

Jim Paredes, Raissa Robles, Cynthia Patag (we couldn’t find a recent photo, sorry), Atty. Falcis (his first name escapes us), Carlos Celdran, Georginaaaaaa Hernandez and Leah Navarro.

Moderators will be from The Adobo Chronicles and Politikal Pinoy.  Ms. Mocha Uson will be the host for the Facebook Live telecast.

It’s going to be a Thrilla’ in Manila, Part II!

Stay tuned!
