MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It is heartening to know that our senator friends are also doing some real  work other than just holding Senate hearings and inquiries week after week.

Today, Senators Antonio Trillanes, Leila De Lima, Bam Aquino and Risa Hontiveros filed a joint resolution authorizing the Department of Trade and Industryt (DTI) to export Philippine garbage to Sweden.

The senators drafted the resolution immediately after learning that Sweden has run out of rubbish for its efficient recycling program.  The European country is now importing garbage in order to keep its recycling machines in continuous operation.

Trillanes told The Adobo Chronicles that their resolution could spell economic progress for the Philippines while keeping the country clean and garbage-free.

If that happens, it is going to be really more fun in the Philippines!

Duterte Critic Senator Leila De Lima Suffering From Severe Depression

img_7710MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Duterte critic Senator Leila de Lima told The Adobo Chronicles today that she is recovering from severe depression.

De Lima said that it all started a few weeks before the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant which concluded Monday in Manila.

“For those few weeks, the country’s and media’s attention were focused on the beauty contestants,” the senator said, ” I can’t even get into the inside pages of the newspapers.”

She called for several press conferences but there was not a single news media outlet that attended.

But now that the pageant is over, De Lima said she will again be the darling of the media, especially Inquirer, Rappler, ABS-CBN and GMA News, not to mention the blogs of Cynthia Patag, Leah Navarro and Raissa Robles.

The Adobo Chronicles scored the interview with De Lima as she was discharged from a local mental therapy clinic.

De Lima’s first after-therapy media statement?

“The PNP under Duterte can now be considered as the most organized criminal group in the country. When you speak of organized crime in the Philippines, you speak of the PNP under Duterte.”
