WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS FILE CLASS-ACTION SUIT AGAINST SMART PHONE MANUFACTURERS

Silicon Valley, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP) has filed a class-action law suit in San Francisco alleging that smart phone manufacturers like Apple, Nokia and Samsung have all but killed their profession and business.

There was a time when weddings were a profitable source of income for professional photographers and videographers, but all that has changed since smart phone companies started to manufacture and market their products that included high-resolution cameras and video recorders.

This situation couldn’t have been more evident than during the December 30 wedding of Philippine actress Marian Rivera and actor Dingdong Dantes, held in Quezon City (see photo) . Nevermind that it was labeled the “Wedding of the Century” and a “Royal Wedding;”  the couple decided not to hire a professional wedding photographer.  Instead, in their wedding invitation, they asked their invited guests to bring their smart phones and take as many pictures as they can and send them to the couple to put in their wedding album.

From all indications, it was by Philippine standards, a very expensive and extravagant wedding, but there was a zero bill for photography and videography.

The class-action suit is being watched very closely by wedding photographers all over the world.  It could mean the end of their profession or a big boost to their business.

Wasilla, Alaska (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Wasilla Police Department has issued an order to take Sarah Palin’s dog into protective custody after the former Alaska governor was formally charged with animal cruelty.

The charge came shortly after Palin posted on her Facebook page a photo of her 6-year-old son Trig, trying to reach the kitchen sink and using the dog — a black labrador — as a step stool.

Apparently, Palin was so amused and thought that the photo she took of Trig would be “inspirational” to her followers.

Along with the photo, Palin wrote, “Determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for ‘up!’, found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.”

Animal cruelty is illegal in the U.S. and the local Bureau of Animal Control has the power to take away abused and battered dogs from their owners.

Wasilla does not have a separate Animal Control Department. The Wasilla Police Department doubles up as the city’s Animal Control.

Palin is set to appear before a judge on Monday.  She plans to plead “not guilty.”

PHILIPPINE ACTRESS BRIDE FUMING MAD AT GROOM OVER WEDDING CAKE

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – It was considered the ‘Wedding of the Century’ by Philippines standards, and although the country is not a monarchy, the media repeatedly referred to it as a ‘Royal Wedding.’

On December 30, Filipino actor Dingdong Dantes married actress Marian Rivera. Extravagance was written all over the ceremony and the reception. President NoyNoy Aquino stood as Best Man at a church wedding officiated by eight bishops and seven priests. The bride looked queenly in a Two Million-peso gown, emerging from a fully-refurbished antique Mercedes Benz.

Then came the wedding reception at the Mall of Asia. The banquet hall reminded guests of an Olympic Games opening ceremony. The menu was a five-course meal, and the cake…. the cake was 12 feet tall, reportedly costing Seven Million Pesos.

Dantes delivered on all his promises to the bride about the wedding, except for …the cake. Dantes promised that their wedding cake would break the Guinness World Record, but it didn’t . In fact, not even close.

The world’s largest wedding cake on record weighed 6.818 tonnes (15,032 lb) and was made by chefs at the Mohegan Sun Hotel and Casino, Uncasville, Connecticut, USA and displayed at their New England bridal showcase on 8 February 2004.

And so, the bride was fuming mad at the groom.

The ‘fairy tale’ wedding thus ended in the first ‘royal argument’ minutes after the reception.
