SHORTAGE OF IRISH BEER IN THE U.S. REPORTED

imageBoston, Massachusetts – From Boston to New York, from San Francisco to Indianapolis, Irish pubs are reporting a mysterious disappearance of popular brands of Irish beer. It doesn’t bode well for the country’s Irish American population, especially with the upcoming St. Patrick’s day observance on Monday, March 17. What would St. Pat’s day be without Irish beer?

Suppliers have said that their inventory of  Irish beer has never reached such a low level, saying their orders from manufacturers have been backlogged for several weeks now.

An investigation by reporters of The Adobo Chronicles has uncovered an unusually huge purchase of Irish beer brands by a famed company in St. Louis, Missouri – Budweiser. Our reporters obtained a confidential memo from Budweiser high officials directing their purchasing department to buy and hoard as much Irish beer as possible. The memo said: “Our marketing goal this coming St. Patrick’s Day is to create an artificial shortage of Irish beer so that beer drinkers will have no choice but to consume Budweiser beer.”

St. Patrick’s Day in the U.S. is credited with the highest beer consumption at any time in any given year.

It is estimated that almost 12% of the U.S. population is of Irish or part Irish heritage which makes the Irish American population greater than the actual Irish population in Ireland.

So on Monday, be prepared to be pinched by old ladies for not wearing something green, and to drink Budweiser in place of Guinness or other Irish beer brands.

WHAT’S REALLY AT STAKE IN U.S.-CANADA RIVALRY IN OLYMPIC ICE HOCKEY

imageSochi, Russia –  Yesterday’s U.S. loss to Canada in Women’s Ice Hockey at the Sochi Winter Olympics was, to say the least, devastating to Americans. Today, there is another opportunity for Americans to prove to the world – and to Canadians – who the real Hockey king is.  The U.S. faces Canada in the Men’s Hockey semi- finals.

All Olympic athletes and all countries represented in Sochi have one ultimate goal in mind: the gold medal. But not for the U.S. or Canada. Either country wants to beat the other, but for a different reason: the loser gets to keep Justin Bieberimage13.jpg

With yesterday’s loss in the women’s competition, Bieber gets to stay in the U.S. The American Men’s Hockey team has the chance to reverse that today by defeating Canada and send Bieber packing his bags and back to his native country.

U.S. PROTESTS MISS WORLD RESULTS

Bali, Indonesia – The United States was aiming for the “grand slam” at this year’s Miss World beauty pageant, focused on winning the crown to add to the Miss Universe title won earlier this year by Miss U.S.A. Olivia Culpo.

Olivia Jordan (yes, another Olivia), U.S.A.’s entry to this pretigious pageant held over the weekend in the Indonesian resort of Bali, made it to the top 10 contestants during Saturday’s finals, but not to the top 5.

Miss Philippines, Megan Young, an early favorite in the competition, went on to win the title, the first ever by a Filipina in Miss World’s 62-year history.  Miss France was first runner-up and Miss Ghana came in third.

Less than 24 hours after the pageant finals, the U.S. filed a formal protest with the Miss World pageant organizers, saying that Young should be credited as a U.S. entry as well.  Young was born in the United States to an American father and Filipina mother, but moved at age 10 to the Philippines where she is currentlly a model, actress and television host.  “Technically, she is also Miss U.S.A,” the protest document indicated. “Even her surname is very American. Can’t she be at least declared as a ‘dual contestant’ by virtue of her dual citizenship?” it added.

Miss World owner Julia Morley has not returned calls from The Adobo Chronicles seeking comment on the U.S. protest.
