BRUNO MARS LOSES VOICE, CANCELS ALL SCHEDULED CONCERTS

imageHollywood, California – Just weeks after his triumphant half-time show performance at this year’s Super Bowl, tragedy has struck Filipino American pop sensation Bruno Mars. He has all but lost his voice, prompting him to cancel his concert tour at least for the next six months and pending his further prognosis.

It all happened this week when Mars was a guest in the  Ellen (Degeneres) show. While waiting in his dressing room for his cue to come on the show, Mars suddenly felt the urge to munch on some pringles set on the snack table in the room. After having a few pieces of the potato chips, he felt a painful lump in his throat. He immediately drank a can of cold pepsi to try to get rid of the lump, but to no avail.

A television studio nurse was called in to examine Mars, but nothing could be done to alleviate the pain he was experiencing. Mars was then transported to a nearby hospital where a team of doctors successfully removed the chips caught in his voice box.  But alas, it was too late. Mars had lost his voice. image13.jpg

Doctors said that while the loss of voice is temporary, it would take at least six months of rehabilitation and voice therapy to get the singer fully back in shape.

YEAR OF THE HORSE POSTPONED TILL 2015

imageEast Rutherford, New Jersey – The Denver Broncos thought they had it in the bag, until their devastating Sunday night loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 48. After all, 2014 is the Year of the Horse.

But the Broncos’ stallion mascot did nothing to help them bag the championship trophy.

If it is any consolation to Broncos fans, the coalition of lunar calendar-adhering countries has unanimously agreed to postpone the “Year of the Horse” as a way of empathizing with Denver.

A decision will be made tomorrow on whether to extend the 2013 Year  of the Snake or to acelerate the 2015 Year of the Goat.

MAJORITY OF AMERICAN FOOTBALL FANS CAN’T COUNT IN ROMAN NUMERALS

bowlNew York, NY – With Super Bowl XLVIII just days away, the country’s leading poll organization, The Gallup Poll, released a new survey that showed Americans can’t find Yemen on the world map.  But that was not the most revealing result of the new poll. Part Two of the poll showed that Americans — football fans in particular — can’t count in Roman numerals.

There was only one multiple-choice question on the second part of the survey: “Which of the following Arabic numerals correspond to the Roman numerals XLVIII ?”  The choices were 28, 38, 48, 58 , 68, and “none of the above.”

Thirty percent of respondents answered 28; twenty five percent answered 38; fifteen percent answered 68, and ten percent answered 58.  Only 5% answered 48 which was the correct answer. The remaining fifteen percent answered “none of the above” because they didn’t know that the numbers 0123456789 were called “Arabic”numerals.  They thought that Arabic numerals referred to the special characters used in Yemen and the rest of the Arab world.

Upon learning of the poll results, the National Football League board of governors met in an emergency session to unanimously approve a resolution to change next year’s official Super Bowl name to “Super Bowl 49.”
