LAOAG, Ilocos Norte (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, candidate for Philippine president, has anointed his successor should he be elected in the coming May elections. And it is not his VP running mate Senator Alan Cayetano.  Rather, it is Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

Duterte is running under the banner of the PDP-Laban Party while Marcos is the VP candidate of the People’s Reform Party.

The mayor made the statement in a meeting with Ilocos Governor Imee Marcos, during which he extolled the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos whom he considers a friend.

In the same meeting, Duterte said that if as president, he does not solve the criminality and other problems of the country within three to six months, he will turn the presidency over to Bongbong Marcos.

Cayetano has not returned our calls for comment, but we suspect he is very heartbroken.

If Elected President, Donald Trump Will Not Live In The White House

DES MOINES, Iowa (The Adobo Chronicles) – Since he launched his bid to be the Republican nominee for president of the United States, Donald Trump has made many promises, but nothing has caught the attention of the media and electorate more than what he said today in Iowa, on the eve of the first caucus of the 2016 presidential elections season.

If elected president of the United States, Trump says he will not live in the White House.

Instead, the billionaire candidate will establish his own White House outside of Washington, D.C. — as a matter of fact two of them : one in Florida and another in Nevada.  Trump’s White House (s) will be headquartered in the Trump hotels in Doral and Las Vegas.

“This will bring the White House — and the president — closer to the people,” Trump declared. He also indicated that he will not be using Airforce One or Marine One. Rather, he said he will be using his own private jet at no cost to the taxpayers.

The Adobo Chronicles asked Trump what will happen to the media and the White House press corps when he travels across the country or abroad.

“Well, they just have to book their own commercial flights and follow me around,” he said.

Thousands of miles away in the Philippines, a leading presidential candidate said that if elected president, he will not live in Malacañang — the Filipino counterpart of the White House — because he likes to sleep in his own bed. His bed is in Davao City of which he is currently the mayor.

Rodrigo Duterte said he will commute daily from Manila to Davao using a private jet of his friend.  Davao is about a hour and forty-five minutes by plane from Manila, which is a far way shorter commute than being stuck in daily traffic on Metro Manila’s streets.

If Elected President, Rodrigo Duterte Will Commute Daily Between Manila And His Hometown Of Davao City

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) –  It’s a one hour and forty five-minute flight from Manila to Davao City.  Manila is where the Philippine presidential palace is located, and Davao is where presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte lives.

Duterte likes to sleep in his own bed, so if he is elected president in the May elections, the Davao City mayor says he plans to go home to Davao City every day. He has no plans of staying in Malacanang, the presidential palace.

Now, before you say that Duterte’s plan is a crazy idea, think again.

With Metro Manila’s daily traffic gridlock, it can take up to four hours to commute from one part of the metropolis to another.  So a daily commute from Manila to Davao doesn’t sound so bad.

Duterte added that his daily commute will not cost the government a single centavo.  He says he would borrow the private jet of his friend, Davao religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, to spare the government the expected expense.

That’s assuming, of course, that the pastor will also pay for the fuel, and that the jet has room for the presidential security.
