JOHN BOEHNER STEPS DOWN AS HOUSE SPEAKER, HANDS GAVEL TO NANCY PELOSI

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – It is the end of the Republican Party as we know it.

Citing the fact that he has lost all credibility and support even from his fellow Republicans, John Boehner made the shocking announcement today that he was stepping down as speaker of the House of Representatives.

The final straw came when Boehner invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before a joint session of Congress, bypassing the Office of the President. He came under intense criticism not just from Democrats but his fellow Republicans, especially those who are familiar with the U.S. Constitution’s provision for the separation of powers among the three branches of government.

What was more shocking in today’s announcement was that Boehner said he had tried to convince other House Republican leaders to step up to assume the position of speaker, but none of them wanted to do so (especially after that embarrassing letter signed by 47 Senate Republicans to Iran, undermining the Obama administrations’s nuclear negotiations with that country.)

So, in an unprecedented move never before seen, or imagined, in U.S. history, Boehner turned over the gavel to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

The historic photograph of the turnover says it all (see photo).

Was it a kiss of unity and reconciliation, or a Judas kiss?

The eyes of the entire nation, and entire world, are on the U.S. Congress.

ERIC CANTOR WANTS VIRGINIA PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS VOIDED

cantor-1a_1317760740Richmond, Virginia (The Adobo Chronicles) – It was the most devastating primary loss and upset in recent memory when Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor lost the election primary in the 7th District of Virginia to Tea Party-backed candidate David Brat.  The news sent shock waves to the nation’s capital as well as to Republicans all over the country.

This morning, in a desperate attempt to save his political career, Cantor asked the Virginia State Board of Elections to nullify the primary results in which he lost the contest to Brat by about 36,000 votes. In filing his petition, Cantor said that last night’s election results do not truly reflect the will of the people, citing that in 2012, he won the general election with more than 220,000 votes.

“I do not believe that the vast majority of Republicans in my district dislike me,” Cantor said. “The numbers merely show that many Republican voters stayed home and failed to vote in the primary elections,” he claimed.

In his petition, Cantor asked the Board of Elections to conduct a new primary election requiring all Republican registered voters to cast their ballot. “Only then will we truly see the will of the majority of Virginia voters,” he said.  He also suggested that the Board reconsider Brat’s candidacy since the Tea Party is not really an official political party.  “Any political party should first register as such before being allowed to field a candidate in an election,” the visibly upset Cantor concluded.

Washington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Republican strategist Karl Rove publicly questioned Hillary Clinton’s health last week, raising concerns about the damage she sustained during a fall in December 2012 that doctors say resulted in a blood clot.

According to the New York Post’s Page Six, Rove insinuated that Clinton suffered from more than a blood clot while onstage at a conference. The Post reported that Rove said, “Thirty days in the hospital? And when she reappears, she’s wearing glasses that are only for people who have traumatic brain injury? We need to know what’s up with that.”

Today, the former chief of staff during George W. Bush’s presidency, apologized to Clinton who is the Democratic frontrunner for the 2016 presidential nomination. Rove admitted that he, not Clinton, has brain damage, citing episodes ranging from memory loss and impeded analytical ability to erratic dancing.

Many will recall that in 2012, Rove kept on insisting on FOX News that Mitt Romney, not Barack Obama, had won the presidential elections. Rove also made news in 2007 when he was caught on video rapping and dancing like a runaway robot during a broadcasters’ black-tie dinner.

In his public apology, aired on CNN, FOX and MSNBC, Rove asked for Clinton’s pardon and wished her well in her  “quest to clinch the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination from Barack Obama.” (See what Rove means about memory loss?)

Rove also announced that he was voluntarily committing himself to an unnamed rehabilitaion facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.
