CHICAGO, Illinois (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – If you think the Log Cabin is the largest group of LGBT Republicans, think again. How about the Human Rights Campaign (HRC)?
Earlier this month, HRC, the nation’s largest LGBT civil rights organization, decided to endorse Republican Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois in his reelection bid over his opponent, Representative Tammy Duckworth, a Democrat.
Kirk is the junior United States Senator from Illinois. Previously, he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Illinois’s 10th congressional district. Kirk is a social moderate and fiscal conservative.
Duckworth has been the U.S. Representative for Illinois’s 8th congressional district since 2013. A Democrat, she is the first Asian American woman elected to Congress in Illinois, the first disabled woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, and the first member of Congress born in Thailand.
Now, it turns out Kirk has endorsed presidential candidate Donald Trump. Ergo, HRC is endorsing Trump.
Many in the LGBT community are finally realizing that HRC does not represent the rainbow colors. Rather, it represents the red, GOP color.
Nevertheless, it is never too late for HRC to come out of the closet. Now we know.
LOS ANGELES, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Filipino boxer and senatorial candidate Manny Pacquiao may not make it to Las Vegas for his April 9 fight with Timothy Bradley, Jr. Here’s why:
Both the Los Angeles and San Francisco International Airports have banned Pacquiao from passing through. There is no direct flight from Manila to Las Vegas. International passengers heading for Las Vegas have to stop at the L.A. or San Francisco airports which are major ports of entry.
The ban is the result of Pacquiao’s early public comment comparing gay men and women to “worse than animals.” L.A. and San Francisco are known to be a mecca for the LGBT community.
Earlier, Pacquiao was banned from an upscale mall in Los Angeles also because of his anti-gay comments. This is the second time that the boxer has been banned from The Grove mall. He was similarly banned years ago when he “castigated” LGBT’s by quoting bible verses (Leviticus) condemning homosexuals and homosexual behaviour.
So it looks like Pacquiao will not only be able to shop or see a movie at the L.A. mall; he will not be able to travel to Las Vegas for his boxing match on April 9.
Perhaps, he will just focus on his senatorial campaign in the Philippines.
HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – They felt they were duped, made to believe that their idol, Josh Hutchinson, who played the lead character opposite Jennifer Lawrence in ‘The Hunger Games’ series, was straight.
‘They’ are the fans of the blockbuster movie who have followed the series through thick and thin, and continued to hope for another sequel after the last ‘Mockingbird, Part 2.’
Hutchinson, in a recent interview, revealed that he was open to dating men, a revelation that devastated the fans, including Lawrence herself.
The fans are reportedly preparing to file a class action lawsuit against the producers of ‘The Hunger Games’ for emotional distress and what they are calling a “Hollywood deception of epic proportions.”
It wasn’t clear whether or not Lawrence would be joining the class-action lawsuit. Stay tuned.
