MILLIONS OF FILIPINO PACQUIAO FANS UNFOLLOW JUSTIN BIEBER FOR SUPPORTING MAYWEATHER

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – As far as Filipinos are concerned, blood is thicker than water. Between Manny Pacquiao and Justin Bieber, they’d choose Pacquiao.

The 21-year-old teenage idol is undoubtedly one of the most followed celebrities on social media. As of latest count, Bieber has over 77 Million Facebook fans, more than 61 Million and close to 24 Million Twitter and Instagram followers, respectively.

But all that is changing. The numbers are rapidly going down, thanks to Filipino fans who are unfollowing Bieber by the millions. (The Philippines has a population of 100 Million.)

Since the announcement early this year that Pacquiao will face American Floyd Mayweather in what is being billed ‘The Fight of the Century’ at MGM Grand Las Vegas on May 2, Filipino Bieber fans have, in no uncertain terms, made known their support for their countryman while angrily criticizing Bieber for openly rooting for Mayweather.

Bieber has always been a Mayweather fan, standing beside the undefeated champion during his boxing matches and even hanging out with the boxer off the ring. Bieber is also reportedly singing Mayweather’s entrance music live during the May 2nd bout.

Well, the Filipinos aren’t happy and are bidding The Bieb ‘buh-bye!’

FACEBOOK, TWITTER TO BAN ‘ALL CAPS’ IN POSTS

SILICON Valley, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – It has happened to many of us on Facebook and Twitter. We unfriended and were unfriended; we unfollowed and were unfollowed. We even lost personal friends for good. ALL BECAUSE OF ALL CAPS.

Depite the efforts of social media sites to promulgate posting and tweeting etiquette, many netizens have insisted on writing in ALL CAPS, often triggering unhealthy debate and personal attacks. It is generally acknowledged that writing in ALL CAPS is the equivalent of shouting or screaming.

Today, social media giants Facebook and Twitter jointly announced that ALL CAPS will be banned from their networks.

“When someone tries to post a message that is written in ALL CAPS, the ‘send’ button will automatically turn grey and will be de-activated,” Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg says. “The only way to re-activate the send button is to change the post or message to lower case, or if necessary, caps and lower case.”

Twitter even considered banning all exclamation points and hash tags, but decided against it at the last moment.

FACEBOOK PLATINUM DEBUTS IN THE U.S., BY SUBSCRIPTION ONLY

imageMENLO PARK, California  (The Adobo Chronicles) – You’ve probably wondered why many of your friends or family have not been liking, or responding to, your Facebook posts. Well, it’s because they’re not seeing it.

By some kind of algorithm, Facebook determines who gets to see your posts, and it’s not a whole lot, unless, of course, you boost your posts by paying some dollars. You can complain all you want, but business is business. Like everyone else, Facebook has to make some money, right?

But there is some good news for netizens in the U.S. This weekend, Facebook will launch Facebook Platinum, which, if you subscribe to it, will increase the number of people that will see your posts. But it is not free.

Platinum subscription will cost you $100 per month, but you can be assured that every single post from you will reach a minimum of 5,000 people, whether or not they’re your FB friends. The Platinum version will only be available in the U.S.  Facebook says it will consider offering this premium service to other countries depending on how well this new initiative is received in America.

So, watch out for your invitation to subscribe to Facebook Platinum.  And once you have it, don’t leave home without it!
