FINALLY, REPUBLICANS HAVE FOUND THEIR NOMINEE FOR PRESIDENT IN THE 2016 ELECTIONS

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – There has not been a clear frontrunner in the Republican nomination for president in the coming 2016 elections. Up until now.

Today, the Republican Party annointed their choice for president, saying they have finally found the man who could put up a strong challenge against the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton.

That man is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Republican announcement came just minutes after Netanyahu delivered a speech before a joint session of Congress upon the invitation of House Speaker John Boehner. The speech was interrupted by 25 hysterical standing ovations from the Republican legislators, and Tea Partiers.

“Netanyahu embodies everything that the Grand Old Party stands for (which is nothing), and we are very confident that he can effectively lead this nation with the full blessing and cooperation from the Republican-controlled congress,” Boehner said.

Recognizing that only natural-born citizens can run for U.S. president, Boehner said he and his party will immediately call for a constitutional convention to amend the qualifications for candidates for president so that Netanyahu can be the party’s standard bearer in 2016.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu announced that he is withdrawing his troubled candidacy from the upcoming Israeli elections, saying that being president of the  most powerful country on earth is much more appealing than being prime minister of Israel.

HUGE ERROR IN FORBES’ LIST OF FILIPINO BILLIONAIRES

imageNEW YORK , New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Forbes magazine has apologized for messing up with the  2015 list of Filipino billionaires.

Of the 11 Filipinos listed on its 2015 richest men and women in the world, Forbes said only 3 were actually Filipinos. The rest were Chinese.

“We will immediately make the correction and revise our list,” an editor of Forbes said.

Forbes also clarified that its list does not include Filipino politicians who have acquired assets from the pork barrel scam since these have yet to be assessed and resolved by the courts.

IT’S SHAPING UP TO BE MARCOS VS. AQUINO IN THE PHILIPPINES’ 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

Red vs. Yellow: Bongbong Marcos, left, and Kris Aquino
Red vs. Yellow: Bongbong Marcos, left, and Kris Aquino

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – In the U.S., presidential politics is shaping up to be a Clinton-Bush-Clinton-Bush affair.  In the Philippines, it’s likely to be Marcos-Aquino-Marcos-Aquino.

After four years of the older Bush (George H.W.) and eight years of the younger Bush (George W.); and after eight years of Bill Clinton, the 2016 U.S. presidential elections is likely to be a contest between another Bush and another Clinton – Jeb and Hillary.

The Philippines seems to be mimicking its former colonial master.  After twenty years of Marcos’ rule  (Ferdinand, Sr.)  and six years a piece for the older Aquino (Cory) and her son (NoyNoy), the 2016  presidential elections could possibly be a contest between another Marcos and another Aquino – Bongbong (Ferdinand, Jr.) and Kris (NoyNoy’s sister).

It will be up to the intelligent Filipino voter to make the difficult choice between matuwid na daan (straight path), and baluktot na daan (crooked path). Matuwid na daan is the NoyNoy administration’s battle cry.

The question is, who — between Bongbong and Kris — will follow which path? What color will the voters choose? Red (Marcos loyalists) or yellow (Aquino fanatics)?

Let the games begin!

(Actually, the games have begun. Marcos’ resume is now being scrutinized as far as his Oxford and Wharton degrees are concerned, while Aquino’s love life is taking center stage  — largely through her own doing).
