IMMIGRATION REFORM: QUICK PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR FILIPINOS, VIETNAMESE, CUBANS,CHINESE, ETC.

imageMIAMI, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – If you are undocumented and you live in one of the designated ‘immigration centers’ in the U.S., then you’re in luck. You will have a quick path to citizenship, if Republican Senator Marco Rubio will have his way.

Today, at the steps of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., Rubio announced his ground-breaking proposal to grant immediate U.S. citizenship to undocumented immigrants living in the country’s Chinatowns, Japantowns, Koreatowns, Little Manila, Little Saigon, Little Havana and all other ethnic-specific communities.

Rubio said that he now realizes that it will be impossible to deport all of the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country, and that as a gesture of good faith relative to the Obama administration’s immigration reform initiatives, he is sponsoring a bill to grant these foreign nationals the quickest possible path to U.S. citizenship.

Rubio said details of his proposal will be unveiled shortly, but he emphasized that in order for undocumented immigrants to qualify for this proposed new law, they must show proof that they have been residing continuously in the designated communities for at least five years. Once granted citizenship, they must remain in their communities and will not be allowed to relocate until after another 5 years of being a U.S. citizen.

So if you are undocumented and have lived in one of these communities —  from San Jose and Daly City to Boston and Miami — for five years and above, you are advised to contact your immigration attorney and start gathering required documentation like passports, utility bills, credit card statements and any proof of payment of sales tax.

PHILIPPINES FILM BEST ACTRESS AWARD PITS NORA AUNOR VS. NORA AUNOR, AND IT’S A TIE!

Aunor and Aunor
Aunor and Aunor

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Philippines actress Nora Aunor — the same Nora Aunor who was snubbed by President NoyNoy Aquino in last year’s naming of the country’s National Artists – keeps on reaping film awards. She is unstoppable.

This time, Ms. Aunor beat herself in the Best Actress category of the annual Gawad Pasado film awards.  PASADO (Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro) is an organization of private and public school master teachers, elementary through college, reviewing films as documents and materials for teaching different disciplines.

Actually, Ms. Aunor tied with herself in this year’s Best Actress award.  She was nominated for two of her films, Hustisya,  and Dementia.

It is not uncommon for film awards bodies to declare a tie among contenders in acting or film.  However, with Ms. Aunor winning in both her films, PASADO did not have to go through the trouble of ordering a second award trophy. That saved the teachers some money, especially considering that teachers are among the lowest paid professionals in the Philippines.

FDA APPROVES FIRST ‘SELFIE’ DRUG

imageLENERKUSEN, NORTH RHINE-WESTPHALIA, Germany (The Adobo Chronicles) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the green light to Bayer Pharmaceuticals for the marketing of the first drug to cure selfitis, an inflammation of the ego which last year was officially declared a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association.

Bayer is a German chemical and pharmaceutical company founded in Barmen, Germany in 1863. It is headquartered in Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and well is known for its original brand of aspirin.

The FDA approval came after successful Phase III clinical trials which showed the new pill’s overwhelming safety and efficacy in combatting selfies – the taking of photos of one’s self and posting them on social media.

Because selfitis has become a highly contagious worldwide epidemic, the FDA granted Bayer a fast track approval process. FDA drug approval takes takes anywhere from 10 to 15 years, but it took just 14 months for Bayer to gain the marketing green light.

The new drug comes in pill form and requires a doctor’s prescription. Dosage is different for men and women.  Men need to take one pill a day while women need 5  pills.  Neither Bayer nor the FDA had any explanation on the dosage discrepancy.

Bayer is now pursuing drug approval in Europe and Asia.
