Blogger Raissa Robles In L.A. Didn’t Expect A ‘Slay,’ Says ‘Never Again!’

951AEA8D-7DEE-458B-83F3-DE9E0F28C1D8LOS ANGELES, California (The  Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – Remember Pinoy Ako Blog’s Jover Laurio and her Twitter message to Raissa Robles asking for help to ‘slay’ Sass Rogando Sasot, Thinking Pinoy and Maharlika?

Well, in L.A., Robles came face to face with a ‘slay.’

It was easy for Robles to imagine an auditorium at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) filled to capacity, with the audience very eager to hear her speak about her Marcos Martial Law book, ‘Never Again,’ and her thoughts about the current state of the Philippine government.

Instead, a sparse crowd estimated at about two dozen, sat in a small conference room to listen to Robles as she was challenged by blogger Maharlika and a young gentleman who came well-prepared with documents that caught the ‘guest speaker’ by surprise.

The facial expressions of Robles tell it all.  But don’t take our word for it.  You can watch a video clip HERE.

Contacted by The Adobo Chronicles after the event, Robles simply told us, ‘Never Again!’

Barong Tagalog Designers Refuse To Make One For Donald Trump

AAAA5A12-DEE2-44BF-B18C-497F92DE3D7D.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – When the leaders of the member-nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meet for the annual summit in Manila next month, they will be donning the Philippine national attire for males.  It’s called the Barong Tagalog.

World leaders like Barack Obama, Justin Trudeau and Enrique Peña Nieto all looked dashing in their Filipino attire last during the last Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Manila.

But for this year’s ASEAN summit,  Filipino fashion designers are refusing to make a Barong Tagalog for Trump, in protest of his anti-immigration stance which impacts thousands of Filipinos now in, or planning to move to, the U.S.

Well, Trump will just have to wear the boring coat and tie.

In Its News Headline, Rappler Uses Wrong Philippine Air Lines (PAL) Logo

80643F97-17C4-4A01-91D1-CD3149A73618MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Remember when the Phlippine News Agency (PNA) used the wrong logo of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for  its news story?

Yes, that was the news story that used the logo of Dole, the pineapple company, instead of that of the government agency.

Well, this time it was Rappler that made a booboo.

In its headline story about Philippine Airlines (PAL) paying up on the billions its owed the government, Rappler used the wrong logo.  It used that of the U.S.-based online payment company, PayPal.

But at least, Rappler conveyed the correct message that PAL paid.
