Jim Paredes Now A Die-hard Dutertard

IMG_2915.JPGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Former Filipino entertainer Jim Paredes has suddenly turned from being a harsh critic of the Duterte administration  to a loyal and passionate supporter.

Paredes’ change of heart and politics shocked and disappointed his former fellow Yellowtards like Raissa Robles, Leah Navarro and Cynthia Patag.  Rappler and The Inquirer both refused to carry the story claiming it is “fake news.”

Bur Paredes’ most  recent tweets speak for themselves. Finally, the FIlipino-Australian has nothing but positive comments about Duterte and the Philippine government.

#DollarParaKayLeni Launched In San Francisco

IMG_2901SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – It’s been a almost a year since a fundraising campaign was launched to help Leni Robredo shoulder the costs of former Senator Bongbong Marcos’ electoral protest questioning the legitimacy of the Vice President’s win in last year’s elections.

Previously, the Supreme Court required both Marcos and Robredo to pay a deposit in order to make the vote recount happen.  Marcos had to pay P66 million, while Robredo, P15 million.

Unconfirmed reports show that since the launch of “PisoParaKayLeni,” the total amount raised has only been about P400,000, a long ways to the P15 million Robredo needed to come up with.

And so, Leni’s FilAm supporters are coming to the rescue, launching a new campaign, “DollarParaKayLeni.”  The goal is to raise the rest of the P15 million Robredo needs.

Launched in San Francisco’ s Union Square, the stateside fundraising campaign hopes that kind-hearted Leni supporters will contribute at least a dollar each.

“A dollar goes a long way,” organizer Rodel Dimagiba said, “since the current U.S. Dollar-PH Peso exchange rate is almost 50 to 1. That’s 50 times more that we can raise for Leni than the one peso contribution by Leni’s supporters in the Philippines.”

The Supreme Court, acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal will start the preliminary conference on Marcos’ petition on Tuesday, July 11.

Raissa Robles Launches New Martial Law Book

IMG_2887MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – ‘Never Again.’ It has been the battlecry for those who were opposed to the dictatorial regime of the late Ferdinand E. Marcos, in obvious reference to decades of Martial Law under the deposed strongman.

It is also the title of the one and only book by self-identified ‘investigative journalist’ and blogger Raissa Robles.

But now, the battlecry — and Robles’ book — are moot and academic, after President Rodrigo Duterte declared Martial Law in Mindanao, a move upheld by both Congress and the Supreme Court.

So, what is Robles going to do?

Well, write another book, and she did.

The Adobo Chronicles learned from very reliable sources in San Francisco that Robles will soon launch a sequel to her first book.  This time, it will be titled, ‘Never Again and Again.’

The new book chronicles the failure of anti-Marcos elements to prevent a repeat of a Martial Law declaration in the Philippines.
