SEATTLE, Washington (The Adobo Chronicles) – Good publicity or bad publicity is still publicity. And publicity is good for business.

There has been a lot of controversy and social media debate over Starbuck’s decision to redesign their Christmas (okay, okay, ‘Holiday’) cups to just plain red without the usual holiday-themed designs of previous years.

Many individuals were offended by the new design, accusing Starbucks of taking “Christ” away from “Christmas.”

Well, it now appears that the complainants are stockholders of Starbucks who wanted to boost the coffee company’s holiday season business.  In recent years, Starbucks has come under serious competition from other coffee companies, resulting in the decline of its stock value.

The complainants were hoping that by “creating” a controversy, coffee lovers would empathize with Starbucks and bring their business to the Seattle-based company.

The Adobo Chronicles  could not independently confirm the identity of the Starbucks stockholders who masterminded this red cup controversy. We’re working on it.

MICHELE BACHMANN WANTS TO BAN THE SALE OF MENORAH IN THE U.S.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles)  – Former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann  has proposed a ban on the sale in the U.S. of the Menorah, a candelabrum used in Jewish worship, especially during the observance of Hanukkah.

She made the proposal as she called for an intensified effort to convert Jews to Christianity.

In the radio program, “Washington Watch,” Bachmann discussed the meaning of the recent intensification of violence in Israel and the West Bank. She cast the violence as a signal of the return of Jesus, which would necessitate mass conversions.

“We recognize the shortness of the hour,” Bachmann said on the program hosted by Tony Perkins, “and that’s why we as a remnant want to be faithful in these days and do what it is that the Holy Spirit is speaking to each one of us, to be faithful in the Kingdom and to help bring in as many as we can — even among the Jews — share Jesus Christ with everyone that we possibly can because, again, He’s coming soon.”

Bachmann added that banning the sale of the Menorah would be a great and meaningful first step in converting Jews to Christianity.  She proposed that American Jews should decorate their homes with a Christmas tree instead.  “If that offends them, then an alternative would be to set up a giant inflatable Santa Claus in their front lawns,” she said.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Powerful conservative Christian groups are lobbying Congress to pass legislation mandating the separation of church and stores.

In a strongly-worded letter to members of Congress, the lobby group demanded that a law be passed banning Christmas displays and the selling of Christmas merchandise at all retail stores in the country.

“Christmas is a one-day celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ,” the letter said, “and for businesses and retailers to turn this holy day into months and months of Christmas shopping season is disgusting and an attack on the Christian faith.”

The group specifically mentioned giant retailer Macy’s as an example of commercialization gone mad, at the expense of religion.

As early as September, many Macy’s stores across the country have set up their Christmas displays and started selling Christmas items.

The lobby group are calling for the banning of all Christmas-related displays and merchandise in all department stores and shopping malls effective immediately. Members of the group also asked that the taking of souvenir photos with Santa Claus in shopping malls be outlawed.

Tea Party and other conservative Republicans in Congress have expressed full support for the proposal.
