Manila, Philippines – One hundred million Filipinos woke up today to find that their president, Noynoy Aquino has been demoted to police chief of Metro Manila. His Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas was also demoted to deputy police chief.

The good news is, both seem to be fit for, and doing great in their new jobs.

Less than 24 hours after their demotion, both gentlemen were busy at work, responding to a jewelry  robbery at a store inside SM, a popular shopping mall.

Aquino went to the SM North Edsa Mall in Quezon City, more than two hours after members of the notorious Martilyo gang tried to rob a jewelry store. After 15 minutes of conferring with police officials and surveying the crime scene, he left the site just as Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas arrived.

Roxas did not, however, linger long to allow Quezon City police investigators to conduct a probe on the robbery.

Aquino and Roxas received praise for being efficient first responders to the crime.

‘GOOGLE VOICE’ FACES GENDER DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT

imageSan Francisco, California – The West Coast Division of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is suing Google for gender discrimination over its popular Google Voice smart phone app.

Like  Apple’s Siri, Google Voice is able to help smart phone users with questions or directions through its voice-activated feature. The problem is that  Google Voice does not have an option for a male voice, unlike Siri.

The class action suit alleges that  Google discriminates against consumers who have specific gender preferences for their smart phone  “assistants or concierge service” by not offering the option of a male voice, especially in a gay male-dominated  place like the San Francisco Bay Area.

Google has not returned calls from The Adobo Chronicles requesting for comment on the lawsuit.

OBAMAS HIRE FOREST WHITAKER FOR TOP WHITE HOUSE JOB

ForestWashington, D.C. – The White House announced today that President and Mrs. Obama have decided to hire Forest Whitaker to be the head butler for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Whitaker is the actor who played the role of real-life butler Eugene Allen who served eight American presidents in the Hollywood film by Lee Daniels.

The White House announcement came shortly after the nominations for the 2014 Golden Globes were announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).  Many were shocked that Whitaker was not nominated for Best Actor.  In fact, the Lee Daniels’ film did not receive a single nomination.  Earlier, however, Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and the ensemble cast of The Butler were nominated by the Screen Actors’ Guild (SAG) for its 2014 awards.

The Adobo Chronicles learned that Michelle Obama was so distressed by the Golden Globes’ snub of Whitaker that she pressured the president to offer the all-important White House job to the actor as a way of getting back at the HFPA.

Whitaker gladly accepted the offer, saying that he hopes to serve under another eight U.S. presidents.   The Obamas reportedly agreed to have Whitaker continue to make films as long as his film schedule doesn’t conflict with state banquets at The White House.
