JEB BUSH: ANCHOR BABIES = ASIAN PEOPLE

imageMCALLEN, Texas (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Realizing that his recent comments about ‘anchor babies’ could alienate him from Latino voters, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, tried to distance himself from his own statement.

Talking to reporters today, the younger brother of former President George W. Bush said that his comments  pertained more to “Asian people,” suggesting that the practice of coming to the United States to give birth to anchor babies was an Asian thing.

Asked if he had any factual basis that Asians are the ones resorting to anchor babies as a way to circumvent  the U.S. immigration system, Bush said, “I don’t have to give you facts. Just look at one of my Republican presidential opponents, Piyush Jindal. He’s a poster boy for anchor babies.”

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is dead serious about his recently-announced immigration policy, and he is not waiting until he gets elected.

Trump’s policy includes the building a a great wall along the entire stretch of the southern border with Mexico, deporting all the estimated 11 Million undocumented immigrants now living in the U.S., and amending the constitutional provision for birthright citizenship.

Speaking with reporters at the Trump hotel in Las Vegas, the real estate mogul revealed a list of the 5 top priorities that he wants to be deported immediately:

  1. Senator Ted Cruz, also a Republican presidential candidate, who was born in Canada
  2. Governor Bobby ‘Piyush’ Jindal, another Republican presidential candidate, who was born in the U.S. to a mother who was at the time not a U.S. citizen
  3. Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, who claimed in his Texas voter registration that he was Latino
  4. Jose Antonio Vargas, Pulitzer prize winner and self-identified undocumented immigrant from the Philippines
  5. The twin cubs recently born to a  giant panda loaned by the Chinese government to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.

“I hate rhetoric,” Trump said, “let’s get serious in protecting our borders and get these undocumented folks out of here!”

AQUINO ADMINISTRATION UNVEILS 5-POINT PLAN TO SOLVE METRO MANILA’S TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION MESS

imageMANILA  Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) –  In an interview with ABS-CBN News last week, Philippine Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya said of Metro Manila’s traffic mess,  “It may be ruining the day for thousands daily, but at least it’s ‘not fatal.’ ”

Abaya’s remarks quickly drew harsh criticism from politicians, the media and the commuting public.

At Malacañang yesterday, presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda appealed for patience and assured the public the government is seriously addressing the matter.

“The traffic situation is an issue that we continue to address. There have been a number of ongoing infrastructure projects and all of us are affected by it and we have asked the public for their understanding and patience,” Lacierda said.

Today, the Aquino administration unveiled a new, 5-point plan to solve Metro Manila’s traffic and transportation mess once and for all.

The plan:

  1. MRT, Metro Manila’s light railway system, will not run on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This, according to Abaya, will minimize the long lines at MRT stations that people see on a daily basis. “Wala nang pila tuwing Martes at Huwebes,” he said (There will be no more lines on Tuesdays and Thursdays.)
  2. Only buses will be allowed on Metro Manila streets on Mondays and Wednesdays. Private cars, jeepneys, tricycles and delivery trucks will be banned. “Everyone will be taking the bus, and there will be no traffic jams,” Abaya explained.
  3. Only jeepneys will be allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, greatly easing traffic gridlock caused by buses, trucks and private cars.
  4. Only delivery trucks will be allowed on Saturdays to ensure timely delivery of goods and services to businesses and private citizens.
  5. Sunday will be private car day. People who don’t own cars are encouraged to carpool with their neighbors to get to church or the shopping malls.

The only exception to the new rules are the cars of cabinet members and members of Congress, provided they do not use “wang wang” (sirens) which had been previously outlawed by President Aquino.
