QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – All is set for the grand homecoming of 2015 Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.  The beauty queen arrives in Manila on January 23 to a rousing welcome by her Filipino fans.

It is a packed schedule for the new Miss Universe, ranging from press conferences, television shows, a ticker-tape parade and many other public appearances.

One thing that’s not going to happen, however, is a previously scheduled exclusive interview with Wurtzbach on Kris Aquino’s morning show, Kris TV. It was supposed to be the first one-on-one television interview with Wurtzbach in the Philippines.

Kris, the sister of President NoyNoy Aquino, announced today that she had disinvited Miss Universe from her scheduled appearance on her show.

The talk show host, who claims to be the “Queen of All Media,” said her decision to snub Wurtzbach came immediately after the new Miss Universe was interviewed on a live radio show in New York where she was asked about the rumors that she was dating the Philippine president.

“That is so no. It’s so funny,” Wurtzbach said during the radio interview.

That response by Wurtzbach hurt Kris, who just months earlier, interviewed the then newly-crowned Miss Philippines-Universe.  During that interview on the show, “Aquino and Abunda,” Kris asked if Wurtzbach was dating her brother.  She then promised Wurtzbach that she would be a good “sister-in-law.”

“I cannot believe Pia would embarrass me and my brother,” Kris said. “From now on, I will not have anything to do with her.  I am canceling my exclusive interview with her on my show.”

When The Adobo Chronicles  informed Wurtzbach about Kris Aquino’s decision, the ever-graceful Miss Universe simply said, “I understand how she feels, but I’m not going to lie. I wish her all the best.”

Adobo Chronicles Hosting Free Media Seminar on ‘Terrorism’

imageSILIC0N VALLEY, California (The Adobo Chronicles ) – The Silicon Valley-based Adobo Chronicles is pleased to announced that it is sponsoring and hosting a free seminar for the media on the issue of terrorism coverage. The seminar will be held at the San Jose Convention Center on Monday, January 4, 2016.

The seminar will help media companies develop skills to be able to distinguish between terrorism and peaceful protests.

The Chronicles decided to sponsor the event after major news networks like ABC  and CNN  as well as the Associated Press (AP) reported on the take-over by armed militants of a federal building in Oregon to protest the conviction and jail sentence of an eastern Oregon ranching family for arson.

The media companies, who are quick to label any violent incidents, especially those perpetrated by people with foreign ties, as terrorist activities, have treated the Oregon incident as nothing but a peaceful protest.

Media companies interested in sending their editors and reporters to this free seminar are asked to register at AdoboChronicles.com

Presidential Palace: None Of President Aquino’s Statements Should Be Taken Literally

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Time is running out for Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino and his Transportation Secretary Joseph Abaya.  The Filipinos are eagerly awaiting the day — on January 1, 2016 — when both men will have themselves run over by a train. It was a promise made by Aquino in 2013 if, by the end of 2015, the serious problems plaguing Metro Manila’s mass transportation, particularly the MRT (light railway) are not resolved.

In a desperate attempt for damage control, Aquino’s communications secretary Herminio Coloma came to the rescue today saying that none of the president’s statements should be taken literally.

“He was merely joking,” Coloma said, “just like when he makes statements and claims about the accomplishments of his administration.”

“When the president says something like ‘the Philippines is the New Darling of Asia,’ or ‘the Philippines will soon become a First World Country,’ we should not take him seriously.”

The statement from the presidential palace comes as a disappointment to many who were gearing up for a great, televised spectacle come January 1st.
