Leni Robredo On The Case of Chief Justice Sereno: “She’s Still Under Warranty”

E6476E3E-4BD0-4FDB-B56B-E24D972D9955QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Vice President Leni Robredo came to the defense of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, criticizing efforts to oust the latter through the quo warranto case now pending in the Supreme Court.

“Being a lawyer, I know that the Constitution provides for a continuous term for any sitting Chief Justice until he or she reaches the retirement age of 70.

”She’s only 57 years old, so she is still covered by warranty,” Robredo said.

It takes a brilliant VP to point this out to our Constitutional experts!

Senator Leila De Lima’s Case Is Proof That Duterte Is A Dictator

78128CC6-9764-4EB6-9E00-D0F41716E2B7MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippines’ President Rodrigo Duterte has been called many names by his detractors, Human Rights groups, the news media and members of the political opposition. Among them ‘Authoritarian,’ ‘Dictator,’ and ‘Strongman.’

So, The Adobo Chronicles conducted an in-depth analysis of the case of Senator Leila De Lima who is incarcerated for several criminal charges ranging from drug trading to conspiracy to commit drug trading.  Results of our analysis point to the fact that Duterte is indeed a dictator.

Here are the highlights of our analysis:

  • De Lima is not on solitary confinement
  • She has not been subjected to caning, waterboarding or other forms of torture
  • Lawmakers from the European Union visited her in jail on Wednesday, July 19, 2017
  • Duterte has not confiscated the rosary allegedly given to her by Pope Francis
  • She continues to have access to the news media
  • She writes almost daily notes, using Senate stationery, to criticize the Duterte government
  • She conitinues to have access to her Twitter account
  • The Duterte government has not cracked down on protests and rallies supporting De Lima and demanding her release from prison
  • She has gone public urging the Armed Forces of the Philippines to oppose Duterte’s policies and actions in connection with the country’s territorial dispute with China
  • This needs further fact-checking, but we’re sure she can occasionally request to be served her favorite saging na saba (banana)

What other evidence do we need to prove that Duterte is a Dictator?

AFP To Sue Senator Leila De Lima For Calling Military Brass Monkeys

3D100356-E1CD-4E8F-A368-64F6CB3ABC33.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – You can’t have your cake and eat it too.  This was the lesson learned today by incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima.

In a statement to the press, De Lima urged the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to do something about President Rodrigo Duterte’s “mendicant” policy towards China, amid the latter’s reported installation of anti-ship cruise missiles and surface-to-air missile systems in the South China Sea, capable of hitting Palawan.

In a written statement, De Lima claimed the deployment of Chinese cruise missiles is the “single biggest existential threat” to the national security to the Philippines and the Filipinos.

However, the senator said the AFP continues to play “the monkey that sees, hears, and speaks no evil” on China’s aggression on the disputed seas, due to the President’s “amorous” affair with the Asian super power. 94C4361A-1D13-4968-8D33-05CB434C6E67

Of course, the AFP was not happy about De Lima’s statement and is suing the senator for libel and defamation of character.

”Her statement is not only considered inciting to rebellion but also dehumanizes the men and women of the Armed Forces,” a military spokesperson told The Adobo Chronicles.

And we thought all along that monkeys like to eat saba (bananas). Well, maybe, not Leila ‘Saba’ De Lima.
