ABS-CBN Seeks Foreign Support For Production Of “Ang Probinsyano”

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – All units, offices, and personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been advised to immediately refrain from assisting with, and supporting the production of the long-running ABS-CBN teleserye, “Ang Probinsyano.”  The order all but prohibits the use of PNP resources like patrol cars, firearms, personnel, venues and other items and gadgets being used in the television show.

The PNP directive came after allegations that the teleserye has been depicting Philippine police in a negative light.

Concerned that the continued production of “Ang Probinsyano” will be severely impaired, producers at ABS-CBN have issued an urgent appeal to foreign countries like China, Japan and South Korea to help provide the cars, firearms, helicopters and all other paraphernalia needed in the TV show.

”We make this appeal in the spirit of regional cooperation and as a showcase of the friendly relations between the Philippines and our neighbor countries in Asia,” a spokesperson for the teleserye told The Adobo Chronicles.

As of presstime, none of the countries have resplied to the request.

Will “Ang Probinsyano” be retitled “Ang Foreignsyano?”

Imelda Marcos To Seek Refuge Inside Batasang Pambansa

B5677780-ADE3-48FF-80FE-C3695EB7C53AQUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – If Senator Antonio Trillanes did it, why can’t Representative Imelda Marcos?

Many will recall that in the weeks following President Rodrigo Duterte’s issuance of Proclamation 572, which revoked his amnesty, Trillanes sought refuge inside the Senate Building in anticipation of his arrest.

Now, Marcos is reportedly preparing to move into the Batasang Pambansa after the Sandigang Bayan convicted her on seven counts of Graft and ordered her arrest.
Speaking to The Adobo Chronicles,  the former First Lady said she was quite comfortable making the Batasan her home.  “After all, it was built by my husband, the late Ferdinand,” she added.
Unconfirmed reports say that Mrs. Marcos has engaged the services of a well-known interior decorator to redo her office in the Batasan.

BREAKING: SEC Clears Rappler, Says It’s Not A Media Company After All (Yellow Edition #3)

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  There’s bad news and there’s good news.

The bad news: The Department of Justice has indicted Rappler, Maria Ressa and several others for tax evasion.

The good news: The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has cleared Rappler from charges of violating the Philippine Constitution that prohibits foreign ownership of media companies.

The new SEC order means that Rappler and its parent company Rappler Holdings Corporation can continue to do business with or without foreign investment.

A spokesperson for SEC told The Adobo Chronicles that after careful review of the documents provided by Rappler, as well as tons of its previously published stories, SEC concluded that the online news source is actually not a media company and as such is not coverecd by the Constitutional requirement of 100% Filipino ownership.

“It has become quite clear that the “news stories” published by Rappler over the years are actually personal opinions of Ressa and her corps of Rapplerettes,” the spokesperson said.  Just like personal blogs, published opinions such as those of Rappler’s are not covered by media ownership regulations.”

Champagne flowed at Rappler’s headquarters soon after the SEC news broke.

As for the tax evasion indictment of Rappler? Well that’s a different opinion, uhm, we mean news story.
