MANILA, Philippines ( The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Who needs the International Criminal Court (ICC) when the Philippines’ own self-proclaimed President has already ordered the arrest of Rodrigo Duterte?
In a New Year’s Day message to the Filipino people, Ely Pamatong announced his arrest order following what he says was Duterte’s crime of inoculating soldiers, particularly members of the Presidential Security Group with unregistered and unapproved Covid-19 vaccine from China.
The Philippine National Police has yet to receive the signed order from Pamatong..
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The new coronavirus strain discovered in the United Kingdom is believed to be already in the U.S., and Japan has confirmed the first few such cases.
The Philippines’ Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Diseases (IATF) has been very proactive in instituting policies and measures to address the Covid-19 pandemic. It has imposed community quarantines, limited the crowd capacities in public venues and in transportation, required motorcycle barriers as well as face masks and face shields. IATF has already temporarily banned incoming flights from the U.K.
President Rodrigo Duterte is cutting his Christmas holiday and has called for an emergency meeting of the task force to discuss the new coronavirus strain.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque told The Adobo Chronicles that several members of the IATF have already come up with proposals for the President’s consideration.
Foremost of these proposals is to require the mandatory wearing of full helmets and jumpsuits for all Filipinos leaving their homes. This would be in addition to the wearing of face masks and face shields. That’s right: helmets worn over both face masks and face shields.
We see where IATF is going for on this: 100% protection from the new Covid strain.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Online ‘news source’ Rappler likes to ask readers nonsensical questions in its ICYMI (In Case You Missed It) series, and one such question was asking what people’s thoughts were regarding Interior Secretary Eduardo Año’s recent statement that the sin of Nuezca is not the sin of the Entire Philippine National Police.
Nuezca is the police officer who fatally shot a neighbor mother and son in Tarlac over a supposed argument on the right of way.
In response, many netizens pointed out that the crime of Maria Ressa (Rappler’s CEO) is not the crime of all journalists.
Ressa was convicted of cyber libel and is facing other criminal charges, inclusion tax evasion.
Moral of the story: don’t ask questions that could get back right at you!
