Berkeley, California Bans Use Of “He,” “She,” “Manhole”

BERKELEY, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – One of the most liberal cities in the U.S. of A. is getting rid of the pronouns “he” and “she.”

In a move that tops all gender-neutral initiatives, the City of Berkeley is now asking its citizens to start referring to people as “it.

Talk about equality and political correctness!

LGBTs, animals and things are now on equal footing with biological males and females.

So start working on your new vocabulary: ithood  instead of womanhood; itpower instead of manpower.

As for “manhole,” may we suggest “sh*thole”?

Duterte Fined P100K For Violating A Law He Signed

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte knows that no one is above the law, so he voluntarily paid a P100,000 fine for violating a law he signed three months ago.

The law is the ‘Anti-bastos’ law which imposes stiffer penalties on a range of acts from catcalling, sexist slurs, stalking and cyberstalking.

Republic Act 11313 or the “Safe Streets and Public Spaces Act” seeks to prevent gender-based sexual harassment from occurring in streets, public places, online workplaces, and educational and training institutions.

According to the law, these crimes are “committed through any unwanted and uninvited sexual actions or remarks against any person regardless of the motive for committing such action or remarks.”

Duterte is known for his sexist remarks and cussing.

Facebook Bans ‘Trapo’ From Netizen Posts

MENLO PARK, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Jose Bureau) – Oxford Dictionaries defines the Filipino word, ‘trapo’ as a traditional, corrupt politician. Trapos abound in the Philippines — not just in politics but in media.

But when a netizen (disclosure: our publisher) called Philippine politicians and (biased) news media trash and trapos, Facebook censored his post, saying it goes against its community standard involving hate speech.

So our advice to our readers, use ‘refuse’ when referring to trash, and ‘trapeze’ when referring to trapo politicians and news media.

Or you can just say “basura.” Now your garbage can’t be censored, can it? It gets collected every week.
