TEXAS GOVERNOR RICK PERRY VOLUNTEERS TO PATROL U.S.-MEXICO BORDER

Austin, Texas (The Adobo Chronicles) – Rick Perry is taking a leave of absence as governor of Texas to volunteer as a patrol officer along the U.S.- Mexico border.

In a press statement issued shortly before leaving his office to assume his volunteer duties, Perry said that he is sick and tired of waiting for the federal government to send more troops to stop the increased border crossings of undocumented immigrants from South and Central America, including hundreds of unaccompanied children.

In a brilliant move that could earn him the Republican nomination for president in 2016, Perry’s last act before his leave of absence was to send 1,000 Texas national guard troops not only to patrol the border, but to protect him as he performs his volunteer work.

During Perry’s leave of absence, the lieutenant governor will assume the role of Texas governor. Staff of the governor’s office, however, couldn’t exactly remember who the current Lt. Governor is, but at least they know his first name is David.

AFTERMATH OF ‘YELLOW FACE’ PRODUCTION OF ‘THE MIKADO’ : BLUE MEN PROTEST

Seattle, Washington (The Adobo Chronicles) – Political correctness has invaded the arts and is threatening to stifle the freedom of expression.

In Seattle, a 130-year-old play is under attack for including racial caricatures and failing to include any Asian American actors in its latest iteration by The Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society . The theater group chose “The Mikado” — a comic opera written in 1885 — for the tenth time in its 60-year history. Critics say having an all-white cast with faces painted  yellow is not kosher.

The Seattle controversy is reminiscent of Asian Americans protesting the initial Broadway production of the musical Miss Saigon, in which Caucasian actor Jonathan Pryce played the role of the Engineer.

Inspired by the Seattle yellow face controversy, an obscure community of blue men and women living in the outskirts of Alaska has issued a statement criticizing the popular Blue Man Group.

Blue Man Group is an organization founded in 1987 by Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton. The organization produces theatrical shows and concerts featuring experimental music (with an emphasis on percussion), comedy and multimedia; recorded music and scores for film and television; numerous television appearances, and a children’s museum exhibit (“Making Waves”). All of the organization’s theatrical performances star a trio of humanoid characters called Blue Men, played by actor-musicians who wear bald caps and uniform blue makeup.

The Alaska blue men community members seldom leave their commune for fear of discrimination because of their unusual skin color.  In fact, they have diplomatically refused to grant an in-person interview request by The Adobo Chronicles. “We have never shown ourselves to anyone outside of our community,” they said. “But the growing popularity of the Blue Man Group could significantly threaten our peaceful existence and encourage impostors. That’s why we’ve chosen to finally speak out.”

EMPTY CHAIR: PRESIDENT AQUINO IS SNUBBED BY THE ACTRESS HE SNUBBED

Vice President Binay, left and President Aquino, right. Empty chair at center was meant for Nora Aunor.

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – What goes around comes around. Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino got a dose of his own medicine when actress Nora Aunor snubbed him and didn’t show up at a parade organized by the Aquino administration in her honor.

Earlier, Aunor was snubbed by Aquino when the president refused to name the multi-awarded actress as National Artist despite a unanimous recommendation by the award nominations committee. Aquino’s reason for the snub – Aunor’s previous drug conviction in Los Angeles – was later proven wrong as Aunor was never convicted.

As Aquino’s popularity continued to decline in nationwide polls, he urged the Filipino people to show their support for his administration by wearing yellow ribbons – the symbol of the people power revolution that ousted the late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos.

In his desperate attempt to regain the trust and support of Filipinos — epecially the millions of Noranians (Aunor’s fan club),  Aquino called for a parade at the Luneta (Rizal) Park to honor the actress and to begin a ‘national reconciliation.’

At the appointed time of the parade, featuring men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the special chair of honor, placed in between Aquino and Vice President Jejomar Binay, remained empty (see photo). Attempts by Aquino’s aides to contact Aunor by text message were unsuccessful.

By the time the parade was underway, the Noranians have left the park and only a handful of administration officials and their families (the few who dared to wear yellow ribbons ) remained in the viewing grandstand.

By the time the parade was over, eyewitnesses said the chain-smoking Aquino had consumed 3 packs of Marlboro cigarettes due to extreme embarassment and stress.

Earlier The Adobo Chronicles  reported on the top ten reasons why Aquino snubbed Aunor for the National Artist title.
