WORLDWIDE SURVEY: IN THE PHILIPPINES, WOMEN ARE THE BOSS

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Nearly a third of all businesses around the world are now owned or managed by women, according to a new study by the International Labor Organization (ILO). The Philippines is among the top countries where women are the boss.

Even in the world of politics, the Philippines is among the handful of countries that have or have had women heads of state (the late President Cory Aquino and the incarcerated President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo).

The ILO survey showed the Philippines in the No. 4 spot, next only to Jamaica, Colombia and Saint Lucia. Forty-seven percent of workplace managers in the Philippines are women.image

In a local household survey conducted by The Adobo Chronicles, the results are even more impressive.

In the poll, conducted among 100,000 married Filipino women,  85 percent of respondents said they were the boss in the home, not their husbands.

The poll results give credence to the revered Filipino saying, Under the Saya (underneath the skirt) which refers to husbands who are submissive to their wives.

Oh dear. Yes, dear.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Despite his growing unpopularity and increasing calls for his resignation, President NoyNoy Aquino says he is proud of his accomplishments in the last 4 years.

“Under my administration, we have put the Philippines on the world map,” Aquino said, “and not only that, our country has been rated No. 1 in many aspects — from the economy to politics, from infrastructure to transportation, from social welfare to the war on terror.”

Aquino cited a new survey which ranks the Philippines No. 1 in the top 25 cities in the world with the most number of homeless people.

“We even treat our homeless with respect and utmost care, like when we rounded up homeless children and families in Metro Manila and brought them to a resort during the recent visit of Pope Francis,” Aquino added. “Show me any other country that has done that for its homeless population.”

HERE is the list of 25 world cities with the most number of homeless people.

ADVERTISERS PULL OUT SUPER BOWL ADS!

imageGLENDALE, Arizona (The Adobo Chronicles) – Super Bowl XLIX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks kicks off at 3:30 pm Pacific today, minus all the commercials.

Sixty second TV ads during the annual NFL championship game have reached an unbelievable $1 Million per spot. Think of how many free Doritos that could mean for millions of Americans!

Just hours before kick-off, all the advertisers in this year’s Super Bowl telecast have withdrawn their commercials. That’s $1 Million in savings for each advertiser, but tens of millions of dollars in lost revenue for the NFL and the NBC Network.

The reason for the sudden withdrawal ?

NBC’s rival network, ABC, has put together all the commercials that were supposed to air during the Super Bowl into a single post on its web site — in advance of the game.

The advertisers said, “Why pay $1 Million per Super Bowl spot when we’re getting it for free?”

Viewers, on the other hand (especially non Seahawks or Patriots fans), said “there’s no reason to watch the game since we’ve already seen all the commercials.”

There are winners and there are losers. And we’re not talking about the Seahawks nor the Patriots.
