Duterte: Donald Trump Needs A Visa To Attend ASEAN Summit In The Philippines

img_9016MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau)  — US Vice President Mike Pence says President Donald Trump will be attending a summit with the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, in the Philippines in November.

Pence says Trump will also attend the East Asia Summit that follows the regional meetings in the Philippines that same month.

But not so fast.

President Duterte has instructed the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Bureau of Immigration to make sure Trump has a valid visitor’s visa when he arrives in Manila.

While US citizens are not required to secure a visa to visit the Philippines, Duterte said it’s payback time for America and Trump whose travel policy is known to be anti-immigrant and unfair to Filipinos. (Filipinos have to secure a visa to visit the US.)

“Since I have not been granted visa to visit the US years ago and Filipinos have to go through the eye of a needle just to get a visitor’s visa to the US,  why should Trump be able to come to the Philippines without a visa,” Duterte said.

Duterte’s anti-Trump policy has the support of 100% of the ASEAN leaders.

MANILA BAY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s been a week of great showcase.  China and the Philippines have simultaneously unveiled their domestically-built aircraft carriers, coming at a time when tensions continue to rise over the disputed territories in the South China Sea.

China’s first domestically built aircraft carrier slipped into the sea for the first time on Wednesday, after days of publicity celebrating the impending launch as a milestone in President Xi Jinping’s drive to extend China’s military reach far beyond its shores.

At about the exact time, the Philippine Navy christened its own locally-built aircraft carrier made of 100% indigenous materials.

In a statement accompanying the launch, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said that hopefully, the Philippine aircraft carrier will not have to be used since his approach with China has always been one of diplomacy and reality.

“We’re no match to China’s aircraft carrier, but we’re still proud that the Philippines is able to domestically build its military defenses against any nation that would trample on our sovereignty,” Dutere told The Adobo Chronicles.

TIME APOLOGIZES: PCOS MACHINE MALFUNCTION LED TO INCLUSION OF SENATOR DE LIMA IN 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONS

IMG_0770.PNGNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – TIME Magazine has issued an apology to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the omission of his name in the 2017 List of 100 Most Influential Persons in the World.

Readers were shocked that Trudeau, who came in second in the online poll conducted by TIME, was not among those officially named by TIME.  Instead, Philippine Senator Leila de Lima who was not even named in the initial list of possible candidates for the recognition, suddenly gained a spot among the 100.

TIME explained that the mess was due to some technical error involving the precinct count optical scanner (PCOS) machine it used to tabulate the votes. “The SIM card we used for the tabulation apparently already had de Lima’s name on it,” TIME said.

The PCOS is the exact same system used during last year’s Philippine Presidential elections which resulted in an electoral protest by defeated vice presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos.  Leni Robredo won the election by a very slim margin.

TIME regrets the error and will issue an addendum to its announcement, deleting de Lima’s name and adding Trudeau’s.

All’s well that ends well.
