Leni Robredo To Keynote 2017 Gilroy Garlic Festival In California

IMG_1676.PNGNAGA CITY, Philippines (Exclusive to The Adobo Chronicles) – The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has confirmed that Leni Robredo will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California.

The Gilroy Garlic Festival is the biggest such event in the world during which garlic farmers and entrepreneurs showcase the versatility of this popular agricultural produce.

This year’s event will also feature musical entertainment, rides, food fares and a garlic conference.

The organizing committee of the conference said that they have invited Robredo to talk about her experiences with regards to the use of garlic in warding off aswangs, tikbalangs and witches in her home province of Camarines Sur.

Camarines Sur is believed to be the aswang capital of the Philippines 🇵🇭.

Aswangs are nocturnal half-human, half-winged blood-sucking witches that prey on people, especially children.  They are known to be repelled by the smell of garlic.

Donald Trump Couldn’t Get Back At Melania, Takes It Out On Montenegro’s Prime Minister

IMG_1668.PNGBRUSSELS, Belgium (The Adobo Chronicles, Paris Bureau) – Remember that arrival ceremony in Israel when Donald Trump’s hand was slapped by First Lady Melania?  (Apparently it happened again as the couple arrived in Italy!)

It was a big embarrassment for the President but he could not get back at his wife.  So he took it out on Montenegro’s Prime Minister.

While walking with the NATO leaders during his visit to the alliance’s headquarters in Belgium 🇧🇪 Thursday, Trump pushed aside Dusko Markovic, the prime minister of Montenegro, as he moved to the front of a group of the leaders.

Watch the great pushover HERE.

Once a bully, always bully. Except with the Slovenian American wife!

Inquirer Sued For Attempted Murder!

BALI, Indonesia (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – When it rains, it pours.  That’s what’s happening to the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Instead of publishing news headlines, it is IN the headlines. And all because it has been publishing fake news.

First, the Inquirer is in hot water after it published photos on its website supposedly showing the aftermath of the siege on Marawi City earlier this week.  Photos showed burning vehicles and what seemed like major chaos in the streets of Marawi.  Except that the photos it used were from the 2013 bombing in Cotabato City.

Now, the national daily is being sued by the lawyers of Mary Jane Veloso.

Veloso is the Filipina who was arrested and sentenced to death for smuggling heroin into Indonesia 🇮🇩 . She was scheduled to be executed, along with others, on April 29, 2015 but was granted a last-minute stay of execution so she could act as a witness during the trial of her alleged human trafficker in the Philippines 🇵🇭 .

The next morning, however, the Inquirer printed a bold headline announcing the execution of Veloso.  We now know, of course, that Veloso, to this day, is very much alive.

The lawsuit filed this morning alleges that the Inquirer tried to murder Veloso.  It is being charged with attempted murder and sued for an undisclosed amount. (Sources say that the amount is much bigger than what the Inquirer owes in back rent for the Mile-Long prime property it is currently occupying in Makati, Metro Manila.)

Moral of the story: Fake news does not pay!
