Philippines Launches New Branding: “We Give The World Our Beast!”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Fresh from the success of its latest branding, the Philippines will soon release a sequel to balance its tourism promotion across the globe.

While there were a sprinkling of critics of the new branding, “We give the world our best,” an overwhelming majority of Filipinos in the Philippines and overseas gave their 100% support for its positive message.

Now, the country’s Department of Tourism will launch a sequel that will hopefully silence the critics of the new branding.

Billboards and banners are now being mass-produced for distribution overseas. The new messaging will be seen in giant billboards, on trains and buses, and in newspaper and broadcast ads in London, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Sydney, Toronto, Rome, Berlin, Paris and Barcelona.

The new branding features none other than Nobel Laureate Maria Ressa with the underlying message of “We give the world our beast!”

Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Coronation Night Hit By A Glitch!

MALL OF ASIA ARENA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Move over, GCash. This time it’s the 2023 Miss Universe Philippines coronation night that was hit by a glitch! And boy, it did cause some major math problems (forget the Leni Robredo math)!

The pageant’s technical difficulties started right after the top 18 was narrowed down to the top 10 finalists. It was a heartbreaking “goodbye girls” for the 8 contestants eliminated.

But wait. When the coronation night resumed broadcast after a long pause and repeated commercials (did the advertisers get free air time for that?), pageant host Xian Lim announced that the top 10 was back to top 18 and that the final 5 would be chosen from all 18. So, the glitch recalculated the math as 18-8=10+8?

Well, we were happy for the returning girls.

There’s more.

When the final announcement of the new Miss Universe Philippines came, the final 5 finalists stood there anxiously waiting.

First to be announced was the 2nd runner-up, Miss Pampanga followed by the 1st runner-up Miss Zambales. And then there were 3 left. The next announcement was the new Miss Universe Philippines (Miss Makati).

Many netizens asked: “shouldn’t the remaining 3 be named Miss Universe Philippines, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up, respectively? Does that mean that Miss Bohol was supposed to be the 1st runner-up and Miss Baguio the 2nd runner-up, or vice versa?

But who cares. The live audience and online viewers were treated to the enchanting beauty of pageant hosts Xian Lim and Alden Richards, not to mention reigning Miss Universe and Filipino American R’Bonney Gabriel, 2019 Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, Italian-speaking 2022 Miss Universe Philippines Celeste Cortesi, and of course, the aging but still beautiful 1973 Miss Universe Margarita Moran.

All’s well that ends well!

Philippine Senator Risa Hontiveros Raises Wrong Issue With The Wrong China!

TAIPEI, Taiwan (The Adobo Chronicles, Taipei Bureau) – Philippine Senator Risa Hontiveros may have been confused, or simply ignorant when she recently met with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen.

The opposition senator took pride in bringing up with Ing-wen the issue on the West Philippine Sea in which the Philippines is involved in a territorial dispute with the People’s Republic of China.

Hontiveros may not have been briefed beforehand that the Philippines adheres to a “One China Policy,”recognizing that PRC is the only legitimate China.

Or did the senator think Taiwan can help resolve the Philippines’ issue with PRC? Or worse, did she think she was meeting with the president of PRC?

Many believe that while she is a senator, Hontiveros does not have authority to speak on behalf of the Executive Department regarding a policy issue that truly belongs to the Philippine president, i.e., President Bongbong Marcos.
