Duterte Critic and FilAm Millionaire Loida Nicolas-Lewis Now Stateless

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) –  Of what use are your millions of dollars if you don’t have a country to call your own?  Well, that’s exactly what Filipino American millionaire Loida Nicolas-Lewis is faced with right now after she publicly called for the resignation of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte so that VP Leni Robredo can take over.

Nicolas-Lewis is a known supporter of the candidacy of Mar Roxas who lost the election to Duterte, and Robredo.

By calling for the resignation of Duterte, many elements in the Philippines are accusing her of ‘sedition,’ and have asked that she be declared a persona non grata and stripped of her Philippine citizenship.

On the other hand, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump who has endorsed Duterte’s administration is in the process of revoking Nicolas-Lewis’ American citizenship for interfering in the affairs of a foreign nation (the Philippines). Trump dislikes the Filipina millionaire because she actively campaigned for Hillary Clinton and supported the Obama administration.

So what’s next for Nicolas-Lewis?

In a phone call with The Adobo Chronicles today, she indicated that she is planning to purchase a beachfront property in the Bahamas.  Good thing she has the millions of dollars for it.  From dual citizen to a millionaire refugee she will be!

Macy’s To Give Away Trump Clothing Line Items On Black Friday

IMG_7192.JPGNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) –  Shortly after Donald Trump launched his candidacy for president, Macy’s decided to drop the Donald J. Trump Clothing line in protest against the Republican’s comments about Mexicans and immigrants.

But there is one problem.

Macy’s has accumulated a huge inventory of Trump’s clothing line collection which is just sitting idle in its warehouses.

Today, Macy’s announced that on Black Friday — the biggest shopping day of the year — it will give away Trump collection items to the first 1,000 customers at each of its department stores nationwide, or until supplies last.

A spokesperson for Macy’s said that it is the store’s way of thanking its loyal customers while getting rid of the boycotted items, thus freeing much-needed warehouse space.

Macy’s stores nationwide will open at 12:01 am on Friday.

Media reports say that shoppers have already begun camping out in front of Macy’s stores nationwide.

Duterte Offers Refugee Status To Filipino Americans Trying To Flee Trump Presidency

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has lashed out at the “hypocrisy” of the West for closing borders to an exodus of refugees whom he said he would welcome to his country until it was “filled to the brim”.

Commenting on the refugee exodus that has plagued Europe, Duterte said Western countries had failed those most in need and the Philippines, a developing country of 100 million, was willing to take them in.

“They can always come here, and will be welcome here,” he said.

“It’s all right. We will survive. I say send them to us. We will accept them. We will accept them. They are human beings.”

In a collateral move, Duterte also announced that his administration will offer refugee status to all Filipino Americans trying to flee Donald Trump’s presidency.

The election of Trump has prompted many Americans to plan their exodus to Canada, Europe and Asia.

“There will be no questions asked,” Duterte said. “All that Filipino Americans need to do is to renounce their U.S. citizenship and come to the Philippines.  He made it clear that his refugee status offer is open to all, including the FilAms who have been very critical of his administration.

“Blood is thicker than politics,” Duterte added.
