MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Paper or plastic? If Senator Risa Hontiveros had her way, grocery and other shoppers will no longer have a choice. Plastic will forever be banned.

Hontiveros has filed a Senate Bill aimed at reducing the damaging effects of plastic on the environment.

But her bill goes beyond shopping.

Not only will store owners be banned from using plastic bags. Plastic surgeons will have to find alternative materials for their profession and business.

Hontiveros’ bill is very timely as it comes just days after Xander Ford made his big reveal on national television — a total facial makeover courtesy of an infamous plastic surgery clinic.

The Adobo Chronicles tried to reach Ford for comment on the proposed bill, but broadcast personality (and wife of defeated presidential candidate Mar Roxas) Korina Sanchez refused to give us Xander’s cell phone number.

Ford’s big reveal happened on Sanchez’s TV program, “Rated K” on the ABS-CBN Network.

One Million Protest March Awaits Donald Trump’s Manila Visit

IMG_5544.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In what is being described as “miraculously unprecedented,” supporters and critics alike of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will hold a joint protest march at the Luneta during the Manila visit of Donald Trump.

The U.S. President is scheduled to be in the Philippines this November to attend the summit meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Leaders of “Tindig Pilipinas,” an anti-Duterte movement and their Duterte counterparts secretly met at Club Filipino in Makati last night to finalize plans for the Million March.

Leading the protest march will be Senators Antonio Trillanes, Risa Hontiveros and Bam Aquino; Jim Paredes, Raissa Robles, Maria Ressa, Mocha Uson, Thinking Pinoy, Sass Rogando Sasot, and Imee Marcos who will lock hands throughout the rally.

President Duterte has given the go signal to provide incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima a one-day pass so she could participate in the march.

Is this the beginning of a United Philippines?

We have Trump to thank.

Tindig Pilipinas Wants Andy Bautista To Resign

IMG_5525MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – And all the while you thought Tindig Pilipinas was an anti-Duterte movement? Well, think again.

Today, GMA News reported that Tindig Pilipinas has challenged COMELEC Commissioner Andy Bautista to sign a waiver to disclose his bank accounts to prove or disprove his wife’s allegations of his unexplained wealth. Otherwise, he needs to resign.

We are all waiting for Bautista’s response and we thank GMA News for being fair, balanced and accurate in its reporting!
