ROBREDO WANTS TO BE SENATE PRESIDENT

Robredo, left, and Senate President Tito Sotto, right.

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo is tired of just “waiting for something to happen to the President.” She wants to be Senate President.

Robredo says the Philippines should completely pattern its system of government after that of the United States of America. In the U.S., the Vice President is automatically the President of the Senate, presiding over sessions and voting on bills and measures to break any tie.

She urged Congress to immediately pass an amendment to the Philippine Constitution so that she can immediately assume the Senate President position for the remaining two years of her term.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles if she would also recommend that a vote for President should also be a vote for the Vice President in Philippine elections, like in the U.S. she said yes, but only beginning in 2022.

Good answer. Otherwise, Alan Peter Cayetano who was the VP running mate of President Rodrigo Duterte, would take over her position.

DENR TO INSTALL GIANT FANS to save manila bay’s dolomite sand

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is leaving no stone unturned to protect the dolomite it dumped on the beach at Manila Bay Sands.

The controversial white sand has had its share of praise and criticism, but also some transformation from black sand to white sand to black sand.

In defending its cosmetic project, DENR said the dolomite sand didn’t wash out. Rather black sand from the water washed in.

The agency has lined up several fixes, including dumping dolomite into the water so that white, instead of black sand would wash into the beach. It also said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) plans to build a breakwater to protect the artificial white sand and keep it intact even with strong current.

DENR is not stopping there.

Today it announced that it will be installing solar-powered giant fans that would blow away the water as well as black sand before reaching the beach.

Already, scientists are hailing the idea as a technological wonder that will put the Philippines on the world map.

Robredo, ovp staff test positive for being nega

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – In a post on her Facebook page, Leni Robredo announced that all her concerned staff at the Office of the Vice President (OVP) tested negative for Covid-19. It is presumed she did, too.

Robredo and staff went into self-quarantine last week after they reportedly came in close contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus.

What Robredo didn’t disclose was that she and her staff tested positive for being “nega,” a term widely used to describe Filipinos who display a negative attitude about social, political and other issues that beset the country. Similar to what many know to be “crab mentality.”

Robredo and the OVP are known for their generosity in criticizing every move or policy of the Duterte administration in order to create a semblance of some opposition — something that many describe as a desperate survival technique.
