Why Trillanes Did Not Turn Off Senator Manny Pacquiao’s Microphone

image.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipinos saw it all on live TV, or via the trending Internet: Senator Antonio Trillanes turning off the microphone of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano in an attempt to silence the lastter while he was interrogating the Senate hearing witness on the alleged extra-judicial killings.

Trillanes has apologized to Cayetano since then.

But in yesterday’s regular Senate session, Trillanes again had the strong urge to turn off the microphone of Senator Manny Pacquiao when the boxing icon was proposing a motion to declare the chairmanship of the Senate committee on justice (headed by Senator Leila De Lima) vacant.

As Trillanes got up from his seat to approach the podium where Pacquiao stood, the boxer-senator clenched his fist as if ready to punch Trillanes in the face. (It would have been a knockout, witnesses say.)

That scared Trillanes and he sank in his seat throughout the entire proceedings, only to abstain from voting when the motion to oust De Lima was called on the floor.  De Lima was eventually ousted.

When asked by The Adobo Chronicles, Pacquiao he never had the intention of punching Trillanes.  “I clenched my fist in solidarity  with our President, Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” he said.  The clenched fist has been a signature gesture by the president and his supporters.

Tiger Mom Amy Chua Picks A Fight With Emmy Winner Alan Yang

HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – In accepting the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the ‘Master of None’ episode ‘Parents,’ writer Alan Yang urged Asian parents to give their kids cameras instead of violins. That didn’t sit well with ‘Tiger Mom’ Amy Chua. She demanded an apology from Yang.

Chua is the author of the controversial book, ‘Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother,’ in which she narrates her insistence on piano and violin lessons for her two daughters. For years, Chua fought pitched battles with her kids about practicing — putting Lulu, age 3, outside in the cold because she wouldn’t take instruction. She also threatened to burn her kids’ stuffed animals, and denying dinner until a piece was perfected.

“Who is to say that the camera makes one a better person than the violin,” Chua said.

The moral of the story: Hollywood can’t pick a fight with the Tiger mom. It’s a losing proposition.

Donald Trump Releases Medical Record, Testosterone Levels High

imageNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – In a taped interview for Dr. Oz’s television show, Republican presidential candidate surprised the doctor host by showing him a letter detailing some aspects of his medical record.

The letter showed that Trump is in good physical health, except for being overweight, taking medication to manage his cholesterol, and for having high levels of testosterone.

The testosterone imbalance explains Trump’s love-hate relationships with women, including his ex-wives, his opponent Hillary Clinton, as well as FOX News anchor Megyn Kelly.

The letter from Trump’s doctor, while detailing his physical health, did not mention anything about his mental health.
