People Magazine Names ‘Sexiest Male Models Alive’

image.jpegOTTAWA, Canada (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – People Magazine is known for its international list of top celebrities and professions — from the ‘Most Beautiful Women,’ to ‘Sexiest Doctor Alive’ to “Most Influential Men and Women on Earth.’

In its upcoming, special double-issue, the magazine has named the ‘Sexiest Male Models Alive.’ That’s right — models — not one or two, but three.

And the winners are: U.S. President Barack Obama, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

In naming the trio, the magazine editors said, “Who could disagree that these men exude the look, the charisma and the bearing of fashion icons regardless of what they’re wearing — a suit, short shorts or the Filipino barong tagalog?”

The cover shows the heads of state strutting their stuff at a red carpet fashion show in downtown Ottawa where they are meeting for the North American Summit, also known as the Three Amigos Summit.

The special issue hits the newsstands on July 4th.

(First) Lady In Blue

The new Philippine First Lady, in blue

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If there was one thing missing from the media coverage of Rod Duterte’s inauguration as the  16th president of the Philippines today, it was the mention of the First Lady.

Sure, there was no First Lady in the last six years, thanks to the bachelorship of now former President NoyNoy Aquino.

But the Philippines does have a new First Lady. Not Duterte’s ex-wife Elizabeth Abellana Zimmerman. Not his domestic partner Honeylet Avancena.  Rather it’s Sara Duterte, the president’s daughter who also happens to be the mayor of Davao City.  The president had said since his election that it was his wish to have his daughter be his First Lady.

Prior to today’s inauguration, little has been said about Sara and her role as First Lady.

But today, she definitely caught the attention of everyone, including the media.  She was stunning in her blue gown and carried herself flawlessly on stage as she joined her father for the oath-taking.

Many quickly remembered the most famous Filipina in blue — reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who captivated pageant judges and the world in her royal blue evening gown.

So, move over Lady in Red , here comes the First Lady in blue!

The Adobo Chronicles’ Presidential Barong Tagalog Survey

image.jpegOn the eve of the inauguration of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as the 16th president of the Philippines, we turn to fashion — presidential fashion, that is.

While Duterte is no avid fan of the formal attire for Filipino males — the barong tagalog-– he nevertheless agreed to pose for his official photograph.

The mayor had repeatedly said that he dislikes wearing the barong  because it is what people wear at their funerals.  He prefers to wear plain or checkered collared shirts and doesn’t mind wearing his favorites over and over again, even in public.

The Adobo Chronicles is conducting a poll on who our readers think looks more presidential in a barong — Duterte, or NoyNoy Aquino?

Please let us know. (Disregard Aquino’s crumpled look, clipped pen and yellow ribbon on his barong ; or hand inside pocket for both men. We’re more interested in style, bearing and statesman-like aura.)
