Philippine President Duterte Graces GQ Magazine Cover

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – He’s been vilified, insulted, even cursed by his critics for wearing a loose necktie during his recent meeting  with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the news media called him “unkempt.”

But fashion gurus at GQ magazine think otherwise. They actually complimented Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte for his forward-looking fashion sense and rated him No. 1 among the world’s best-dressed men.

Duterte graces the cover of the upcoming issue of GQ magazine.

When reached by The Adobo Chronicles for comment, Duterte said he wasn’t really making a fashion statement. “I just wear what is comfortable.”

Miss Universe Philippines Unveils National Costume Competition Designs

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Does a dress make a woman or does a woman make a dress?

These questions are what reigning Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados hopes to answer when she competes in this year’s pageant.

Ganados unveiled the two designs from which she will be choosing for her national costume at the prestigious international  beauty pageant.

In speaking with The Adobo Chronicles, Ganados said the idea is to take the designs of dresses worn by famous Filipinas and showcase them to the world, just like former Philippine First Lady showcased the terno.

The top designs for Ganados’ national costume were inspired by no less than Vice President Leni Robredo.

Kim Kardasian Undresses The Traditional Japanese Kimono

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau ) – In order to impress, some people dress up — others dress down. Reality star Kim Kardasian-West chooses to do the latter.

West has been criticized for launching a new line pf shapewear which she is calling kimono.

Kimono is of course the Japanese attire associated with royalty, respect, dignity and cultural tradition, and it is universally recognized as a  Japanese symbol, almost like the country’s flag.

It is therefore not surprising that West’scattempt to trademark her kimono has been met with fierce opposition on either side of the Pacific Ocean.

As a protester aptly declared: Kim has undressed the kimono!
