YES, MISS SPAIN IS GAY, BUT NOT THIS MISS SPAIN WHO IS NOW MISS WORLD

SANYA, China (The Adobo Chronicles) – It’s just been minutes since Miss Spain, Mireia Lalaguna Royo was crowned 2015 Miss World, and already, there are rumors that the 23-year-old model from Barcelona is a lesbian. Sour grapes, perhaps, from the losers?

To be fair, Miss Spain has admitted being gay, but not this Miss Spain who is now Miss World.

A former Miss Spain , Patricia Yurena Rodriguez, who took home the country’s crown in 2008 and 2013, had previously come out as a lesbian, reportedly making her the first openly gay national beauty queen.

Rodríguez, who was runner-up in the 2013 Miss Universe pageant held in Moscow, posted a photo in bed with her girlfriend, DJ Vanesa Cortes, on Aug. 19. “Romeo and Julliet,” she captioned the intimate Instagram, which has garnered nearly 7,000 likes.

So calm down and celebrate the crowning of yet another world beauty queen, a truly heterosexual Miss Spain and Miss World.

FORGET ABOUT STAR WARS, OBAMA JUST SIGNED NEW LEGISLATION LAUNCHING VISA WARS

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – While Americans were camping out in movie theaters nationwide to be among the first to see ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ President  Barack Obama signed new legislation that would discriminate against human beings — including U.S. citizens — based on national origin and travel history.

Both Houses of Congress approved a $1.1 trillion spending bill intended to keep government services funded through September 2016. Tucked into this omnibus legislation are provisions that could undermine, on the basis of personal heritage, the ability of many American citizens to travel visa-free to countries in Europe and east Asia.

For more than 25 years, the Visa Waiver Program has allowed people from a select list of 38 countries to travel to the U.S. without a visa. Those countries, in turn, must reciprocate, allowing Americans the same privilege on their own soil. Congress voted to change the deal: People coming from countries covered under the Visa Waiver Program, including people who are citizens of those countries, will now need to get a visa if they are determined to be nationals of Iran, Iraq, Sudan, and Syria, or if they have visited those countries since 2011.

So, if you’re a citizen of Germany whose parents were born in Sudan, or if you are a Japanese citizen who has previously travelled to Iran for business or tourism, then you would need a visa to visit the United States and will no longer be covered under the U.S. Visa. Waiver Program.

If you are an American citizen and a national of the above-named countries, you may soon face retaliatory travel restrictions when visiting friends and family abroad.

The visa wars have begun, and neither Dath Vadar nor Princess Leia could stop it.

NATIONAL COSTUME POLL: GIANT WEDDING CAKE OR CHANDELIER?

Left, last year: MJ Lastimosa; Right, this year: Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – Of course, it’s all a matter of perspective, preference or fashion sense. It seems like the Philippines continues to grapple with the appropriate national costume that its candidate to the annual Miss Universe pageant should wear.

Last year was a giant cake.  This year, it’s a capiz chandelier hanging from a coral reef, or is it a mermaid dressed in some hand-woven placemat.

Well, to settle it all, we’re conducting a poll. Let us know what you think. Vote.
