Duterte Invites For Beer Police Officer Who Ran Over Protesters Outside US Embassy

IMG_6585.PNGDAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said he would invite for beer the police officer who drove the van that plowed through a crowd of protesters last week outside the US Embassy in Manila, to ask him why he did it.

While maintaining he was not justifying the acts of PO3 Franklin Kho, Duterte said the officer—who was caught on video running over some protesters and bumping several others—may have been under stress at the time.

” I will try to talk to him peacefully, invite him for beer.” I will also talk to the activists,” Duterte said.

It seems that it is not only US President Barack Obama who is resorting to beer diplomacy to intermediate on issues of national concern.

When asked by The Adobo Chronicles what his beer preference was, Kho said, “San Mig Light siyempre.” (San Mig Light of course.)

L-R: De Lima, Legarda, Binay

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  Beleaguered Senator Leila de Lima found herself getting friendly advice from female colleagues in the Senate as she continues to be hounded by controversies regarding her alleged links with drug lords inside the New Bilibid Prison.

According to the Inquirer, De Lima was recently overheard having girl talk with Senators Loren Legarda and Nancy Binay at the session floor.

Legarda gave De Lima some fashion tips. She noted that De Lima, who was clad in black, looked like she had just gone to a funeral.

Binay agreed. “Wear happy colors!” she told De Lima.

As an example of colorful wardrobe, Legarda and Binay showed their photos of past red carpet ceremonies (before President Duterte scrapped it) during the presidential state of the nation address.

“And drop that scarf,” both senators told De Lima.

Duterte Critic Cynthia Patag Upset There Was No Foreign Aid For Victims Of Two Philippine Typhoons

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She’s a retired singer-comedienne in the Philippines and a known fierce critic of the Duterte administration. Her full-time job now is to take to her social media account to criticize everything the current government does.

Cynthia Patag’s latest complaint is that the Philippines has not received any foreign aid in the aftermath of two powerful typhoons that hit the country in the last week.

She can’t understand what’s different now from what happened when Haiyan (Yolanda) devastated the country and millions of dollars of foreign aid poured in, a huge chunk of it has not been accounted for by the previous administration. She also wondered why no foreign relief goods have come in, unlike during Yolanda where said goods were left to rot instead of distributed to the typhoon victims.img_6575

Patag blames President Duterte’s statements and policy pronouncements in which he made clear to the U.S., Europe and the U.N. that the Philippines is a sovereign country and should not be at the mercy (with strings attached) of foreign governments.

While Patag was ranting and spreading hate and rumors on her Facebook page, Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Taguiwalo announced that the Philippine government has more than sufficient funds and relief goods to deal with the effects of the past two typhoons and that is precisely why no foreign aid has been sought.

Apparently, Patag didn’t get Tuguiwalo’s memo. Or she intentionally ignored it, which is not surprising given her yellow-tinted glasses and computer screen.
