Liberal Party Disbands!

IMG_3541MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Once is fine. Twice is depressing. Three times is just too much to bear.  And so, after three strikes with the Philippine Supreme Court, the opposition Liberal Party has decided to disband.

The decision came after the latest devastating ruling issued by the high court: it ruled that contributions towards Vice President Leni Robredo’s defense fund in connection with Bongbong Marcos’ electoral protest were in violation of the Constitution.

The court’s decision pretty much declared that the fundraising campaign, “Piso para sa laban ni Leni” was unconstitutional.

The leadership of the Liberal Party all but gave up hope about remaining relevant at this time in Philippine politics where President Rodrigo Duterte has the support of an overwhelming majority of Filipinos.

“To wage a continuing opposition to the current administration is a waste of our time and resources,” Senator Franklin Drilon told The Adobo Chronicles.

“We’ll be back in 2022,” Drilon said.

Duterte Vs. Jim Paredes: Psychopath Test

IMG_3530.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has been called a “psychopath” by many of his opponents.  So it wasn’t any surprise for retired entertainer Jim Paredes to tweet about a test that would identify psychopaths.

The Adobo Chronicles used the test to compare Duterte and Paredes to determine who among the two is the real psychopath.

The results are clear:

Why Duterte Would Fail In A Qualification Test For A U.S. Visa

IMG_3137WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has said that he has been denied a U.S. visa in the past when he sought to visit a girlfriend in America.

Now that he’s president, it would be very easy for him to secure a U.S. visa, right? Wrong! Not with Donald Trump’s proposed policy limiting legal immigration.

The Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act, or RAISE Act, favors people between the ages of 26 and 30 with a doctorate, high English proficiency and a job offer with a high salary.

In a simulated test (courtesy: Time magazine), one must earn a minimum of 30 points in order to qualify to apply for a U.S. visa.

Let’s see how Duterte fares in this test:

So there you have it, Duterte scores a total of 15 points, not even half of the minimum required to apply for a U.S. visa.

But it doesn’t matter, Duterte thinks the U.S. is a “lousy” country anyway.
