U.S. State Department Issues Advisory To Journalists Traveling To The Philippines

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  The U.S. State Department has issued a travel advisory for American journalists covering the news in the Philippines.

The advisory came just days after a “60 Minutes” segment aired in which Maria Ressa, CEO of online news source Rappler said that the Philippines is the “worst war zone” she has ever been in.  She made the comment in reference to Rodrigo Duterte’s government which she accused of “weaponizing the law” to curtail her freedom of speech.

The State Department warned foreign journalists to be extra careful when in the Philippines, urging them to wear the appropriate military gear while covering the news.

In Defense Of Maria Ressa: Philippines IS A War Zone. Here’s A Video Proof

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Rappler CEO Maria Ressa has been bashed on social media for saying during a “60 Minutes” interview that the Philippines is the worst war zone she’s ever been in.

But Ressa tells the truth, and The Adobo Chronicles has a video to prove it! (Taken on the strike of midnight, January 1, 2019)

Adobo Chronicles and Ressa may be the worst of enemies, but as always, we stand for the truth, coming to her defense if warranted. We will hold the line…

In Her First Meeting As Drug Czar, Leni Robredo Asks For Data

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In her first meeting as Co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), Vice President Leni Robredo asked for data.

Her request seemed to contrast with her previous video message to the United Nations where she criticized her government’s war on drugs by citing “data” on alleged extra-judicial killings (EJKs).

Robrdo said she wantd data “because before today, I did not have access to the kind of data that you had access to.”

In responding to her request, the committee unanimously approved her request for data and loaded her iPhone with three years’ worth of unlimited data. It was a donation from Globe Communications.

Now, she will have no problems making calls or sending text messages on her phone, as well as having wi-fi access 24/7.

All she had to do was ask.
