Nazi Propagandist Joseph Goebbels’ Estate To Sue Maria Ressa For Plagiarism

BERLIN, Germany (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Whether testifying in the Senate on the issue of fake news, or delivering an award acceptance speech at Columbia University, one of Maria Ressa’s favorite line is. “A lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.”

But that favorite line has gotten the Rappler CEO in big trouble. It now appears that it is not an original quote from Resaa, but a plagiarized one from no less than Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

Goebbels’ estate announced today in Berlin that it is suing Ressa for plagiarism and seeking an undisclosed amount for damages. She could also face imprisonment in a now defunct concentration camp.

”Someone claiming to be a journalist and a recipient of many international awards and honors for her journalistic work should know better by giving credit where credit is due,” the estate told The Adobo Chronicles.

Meanwhile, Time Magazine, Columbia School of Journalism and other international awards bodies are considering stripping Ressa of her awards, honors and citations.

’Plagiarism gives journlism a very bad name, and we won’t tolerate it,” Columbia Journalism School Dean Sheila Coronel said today in New York.

Robredo To Set Sail With Fishermen Involved In Reed Bank Incident

OCCIDENTAL MINDORO, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) –  Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday went to Occidental Mindoro to meet and hold a dialogue with the 22-member crew of F/B Gem-Ver 1 who were on board the fishing boat that capsized after it was hit by a Chinese vessel in the West Philippine Sea on June 9.

During the meeting, Robredo —proving once and for all that her heart is with those in the laylayan —promised to set sail with the fishermen on their next fishing expedition to the West Philippine Sea.

”I will be there with you to defend you against Chinese aggression and to stand up for our territorial rights,” she told the fishermen.

Many politicians, including President Rodrigo Duterte and members of the defeated Otso Diretso Senatorial slate, have promised or attempted to jet ski to disputed territory. None of the plans have materialized.

Will Robredo be the first to make good on all the rhetoric and fulfill her promise to the fishermen?

Rappler Jet Ski Rammed By Chinese Vessel In West Philippine Sea!

SCARBOROUGH SHOAL, West Philippine Sea (The Adobo Chronicles, on board a Philippine Navy ship) – It started as a courageous attempt to do an in-depth, investigative report on the collision between a Filipino fishing boat and a private Chinese vessel, but it ended up as a nightmare on the part of online news site Rappler.

In her desire to be ahead of the game in reporting on the maritime incident, Rappler CEO Maria Ressa sent her most competent and trusted Rapplerette to the scene of the incident via a jet ski earlier donated to her team by Omidyar Network.

Alas, the jet ski and its Rappler occupant were spotted by a Chinese vessel and perceived as a threat, hostile to the Chinese.

The Chinese vessel went full steam towards the Rappler jet ski and rammed the brand new equipment, causing irreparable damage.

Upon the jet ski’s return to shore,  Ressa held a press conference to show the damage and to demand that the Duterte government file a diplomatic protest with China and if warranted, invoke the U.S.-Philippines Defense Treaty for the appropriate Chinese redress to the fate Rappler relative to this incident.

This is a developing story. Stand by for an Adobo Chronicles animation of this very unfortunate incident,
