Ilocanos, Kapampangans, Visayans Clash Over Filipino Accent Survey

CLARK CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Clark Bureau) – A travel industry survey has ranked the Filipino accent as the sexiest in Asia and the 21st in the world.

But instead of being united in Filipino pride, Ilocanos, Kapampangans and Visayans are now clashing over which “Filipino accent” was referred to in the survey, with each group arguing that it is their language/dialect that is the sexiest.

So we’ll leave it to our readers to vote on which of the  three Filipino dialects is the sexiest, using the invitation to eat as a point of reference:

  • Mangan tayon,  Manong ken Manang
  • Mangan ta na
  • Mangaon ta

Rappler, Vera Files, PCIJ, CMFR Unveil New Logos

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Amid allegations that it has received foreign funding in violation of the Philippine Constitution, Vera Files, the Internet fact-checking entity headed by Ellen Tordesillas, has unveiled a new logo.

Soon thereafter, Rappler CEO Maria Ressa did the same thing. And so did the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism and the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility.

Vera Files, along with Rappler, PCIJ and CMFR have all reportedly received millions of foreign funds, including from the National Endowment For Democracy (NED)—“widely viewed as a CIA propaganda surrogate.”

Manila Times columnist Rigoberto Tiglao says the NED funds received by the four entities is at least P100 Million.

Speaking with The Adobo Chronicles, Tordesillas said that she wanted Vera Files’ logo to be more representative of the true state of her media company. When we spoke with Ressa, she simply said, “ditto!”

PCIJ and CMFR did not return our Facebook Messenger requests for comment.
