Washington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – One can be carnivorous, vegetarian, vegan or Pescatarian.

But the United States Depatment of Agriculture (USDA) has just released updated nutritional guidelies on what constitutes diets of Americans.

The new guidelines classify  people who eat beef or chicken as vegetarians.

In explaining the new guidelines, a spokesperson for USDA said that since chicken and cows eat or are feed with non-meat food, they are to be considered vegetarian. And so do the people who eat them.

Dieting just became more fun!

Adobo Chronicles Guide: What To Do If Arrested For Being A ‘Tambay’

6208AC37-2F00-42A1-A627-68B9E60623B7MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philstar has just published a citizen guide on what to do if ever one is arrested by police under the Duterte Administration’s crackdown on tambays.

As a public service to its readers and followers, The Adobo Chronicles has put together its own advisory.  Please help spread the word.

  • Everyone is entitled to an attorney.  If picked up by police for tambaying (the new term for Noynoying), ask to speak to your attorney.  If police ask for the name of your attorney, tell them her name is Atty. Leni Robredo.  Or Atty. Lourdes Sereno.
  • DO NOT RESIST ARREST.  Stay calm and give the arresting office a high five.
  • If asked why you are half-naked, tell the officer that you only have one shirt and it is still drying in the sampayan.
  • YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT. You do not have to answer any questions by the police without the presence of an attorney.  Just smile.  If the police officer is good-looking, give him or her a wink.
  • If the police officer tries to handcuff you, tell him or her that you’re allergic to metal.
  • If the police officer handcuffs you in plastic, tell him or her that you’re allergic to plastic as well.
  • BE HUMBLE, NOT HAMBOG.  Calmly ask the officer for forgiveness in the hope that he or she will just give you a verbal warning.  If he or she lets you go, thank him or her and make the sign of the cross. (If the officer is cute, ask for his or her phone number.  You never know this could be the start of a great friendship or romantic relationship.)
  • If all else fails, shout “Darna!” and fly out of there instantly.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte Has Just Inspired An Internet Bible Revolution

36698957-16DC-41FA-A93A-07C6A714BF54.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Forget about Martial Law. Forget about a Revolutionary Government.  Philippines President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will go down in  Philippine and World history as the civilian Head of State who has inspired a Bible Revolution in his predominantly Catholic country.

It started with Duterte’s comment that has been quoted, misquoted, interpreted, misinterpreted and taken out of context, in which he said that God “ is a stupid God.”

The reaction to his comment was instantaneous.  The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the Born-again Christians,  Pro- and Anti-Duterte folks, and Opposition members who have made Religion as their shield to their cluelessness, have all of a sudden become Bible experts.

Social Media has erupted with posts and comments about Duterte having “crossed the line” and has triggered a barage of Bible quotes from both the Old and New Testaments.

Once again, the news media have ignored the deadly Dengvaxia debacle, the PhilHealth fund mess, the revealing Vice Presidential ballot recount, the Aquino Administration’s DAP travesty, the Kadamay siege and other pressing national issues and decided to zero in on Duterte’s God comment.

A quick check of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts has shown the surfacing of Biblical experts who have suddenly armed themselves with quotes and  verses from the Holy Book.

It’s a phenomenon never experienced anywhere in the Christian world — only in the Philippines.

It’s really more fun in the Philippines.  Oh, and yes, more hypocritical.
