(The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Just days after a group of Philippine (Makabayan) legislators  filed a bill to grant Philippine citizenship to 71-year-old Australian missionary Sr. Patricia Fox, President Donald Trump offered the nun U.S. citizenship.

Fox was ordered deported following charges that she violated the terms of her temporary stay in the Philippines.  She was accused of participating in political activities which is prohibited under the Constitution.

The Adobo Chronicles spoke with Trump and asked him his rationale for the U.S. citizenship offer to Fox.

The President said that this was consistent with his earlier pronouncement that he would welcome immigrants  from white countries.

Many will recall that Trump had questioned why the US would accept more immigrants from Haiti and “shithole countries” in Africa rather than places like Norway, as he rejected a bipartisan immigration deal.

We could not get hold of Sr. Fox to ask her if she would accept Trump’s offer.

Senator Manny Pacquiao Files Bill To Roll Back Senators’ Salaries To Pre-1987

201E807F-4F48-402C-A5E9-7779C6931DDAMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Filipinos welcomed last night’s oil price rollback by P1 for diesel and P1.40 for gas.

Now, a new set of rollback is being proposed by Senator Manny Pacquio.

Pacquiao has filed a new bill proposaing a rollback in the salaries of Senators to the pre-1987 level.  It was the year when the existing Philippine Constitution was enacted.

However, Pacquiao noted that his proposal would only cover the 14 Senators who signed a draft resolution asking the Supreme Court to review its 8-6 decision ousting Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

In justifying his proposal, Pacquiao said that the 14 Senators seem incompetent in interpreting the Constitution, especially on the issue of the independence of the Judicial branch of government.  The 14 Senators maintained that it is only Congress that could remove the Chief Justice.

”Why will taxpayers fund the salaries of incompetent Senators who do not understand their role as elected legislators,” Pacquiao said.
