NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – While the rest of the Filipinos wodered why 14-year-old Shibby de Guzman was selected by TIME among its 2017 Most Influental Teens, the nuns and students at St. Scholastica’s College in Manila were celebrating for the great honor brought to the school by one of its own.
But alas, the celebration was shortived.
Today, TIME magazine pulled the name of de Guzman from its list, saying that there has been a total mix-up.
The editors voted on Xander Ford to be on the prestigious list, but apparently one of their interns inadvertently substituted Ford photo with that of Shibby.
The editors said that Ford was chosen “not because of his facial reconstruction but because he was the epitome of strength and courage amid adversity and bullying.”
Was this another Miss Universe-Steve Harvey moment?
