Filipinos Have No Choice But To Drive Without Driver’s Licenses

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Everywhere you go, it is illegal to drive a motor vehicle without a government-issued driver’s license.  In the Philippines, the government is responsible for motorists driving without a license — card,  that is.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO), the counterpart of the U.S. Department of Motor Vehicles, has announced that by March this year, it will run out of the redesigned driver’s license cards, thanks to a third-party vendor it has contracted with to produce the plastics.

While drivers are issued temporary paper licenses,  many motorists complain that such licenses are often left in their trousers’ pocket to wash away with their laundry. Which means they have to go to LTO several times a year and deal with the long wait to get a replacement paper license.

This situation is brought to you by the Aquino administration’s Daang Matuwid (straight path) , a path full  of Filipinos driving without a (plastic) license!

Globalization: CNN, World Series To Move Their Headquarters Abroad

imageATLANTA, Georgia (The Adobo Chronicles) – If the world’s a stage, then the spotlight shouldn’t all be focused on America.  Media giant CNN and Baseball’s World Series are both relocating their headquarters abroad.

In a stunning announcement today, CNN says it is laying off all of its personnel in the International Desk based in Atlanta, all in the spirit of globalization.  The 24-hour news cable pioneer has finally realized that news happens in other parts of the world, not just in the U.S.  So it has decided to move its International Desk abroad, specifically London and Hong Kong. This way, reporters will not be gathering the news via their computers inside their cubicles.

Just minutes after the CNN announcement, America’s Major League Baseball (MLB) told The Adobo Chronicles  that it, too, has decided to abandon its headquarters in Jamestown, New York, and move its operations to Beijing, China.

For many years now, MLB has been criticized for calling its championship series, “The World Series,” when, in fact, it was more of a North American Series, involving only teams from the U.S. and Canada.

Part of MLB’s restructuring would be to open the World Series to baseball teams from all over the world so that it can be true to the name given to the championship game.

Will the Miss Universe Organization now consider moving its headquarters to the International Space Station or Mars?

President Aquino Tells Philippine Mayors: Time For Payback

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – In an unusual display of his administration’s anti-corruption mantra of Daang Matuwid (straight path), Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino told the country’s mayors that it was time for payback.

In a campaign appearance for the administration’s candidates for president and vice president, Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo, Aquino reminded the mayors of the funds they received from the national government, and that if they wanted to continue receiving funds, they should vote for Roxas and Robredo.

As far as we know, the funds never belonged to Aquino or his administration.  It belonged to the Filipino taxpayers.

Daang Matuwid redefined by Aquino himself.
