1982 BILLBOARD HIT ‘EYE OF THE TIGER’ BACK ON TOP OF THE CHARTS, THANKS TO KIM DAVIS

Eye_of_the_Tiger_SurvivorAfter 33 years, a 1982 number one hit song is back on the top of the Billboard chart, thanks to Rowan County clerk Kim Davis who was released  today after spending the long weekend behind bars for defying a Supreme Court order for her to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

The song, “Eye of the Tiger” by American rock band Survivor was released in the spring of 1982 and was written at the request of actor Sylvester Stallone to be the theme song for the movie “Rocky III.”  It was written by Frank Sullivan and Jim Peterik.

As Davis, accompanied by Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee,  emerged from country jail, she was met by a cheering crowd of self-proclaimed Christians.  The song “Eye of the Tiger” was blasting in the background.

It wasn’t clear whose decision it was to play the song, but we can understand why, just by some of the song’s lyrics:

Risin’ up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance
Now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

With her defiance, Davis is really some kind of tiger!

SARAH PALIN: ‘POPE FRANCIS MUST SPEAK AMERICAN WHEN HE VISITS THE U.S.’

imageWASILLA, Alaska (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – In an interview with CNN last week, former Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin said that Spanish-speaking people must speak American while here in the U.S. And that includes Pope Francis.

The head of the Roman Catholic Church is scheduled to visit the United States on September 22-27, during which he will meet with President and Mrs. Obama, address a joint session of Congress, deliver a speech before the United Nations General Assembly and keynote a huge religious gathering in Philadelphia.

The Argentinian pontiff has said time and again that he is not comfortable speaking in English.  Spanish is his native language.

So when Francis presides over a mass in Washington, D.C. on September 23, he is going to say it in Spanish, according to Cardinal Donald William Wuerl. “It is also in honor of the huge U.S. Hispanic population and the Catholic Church’s advocacy of immigration,” the Cardinal said.

That didn’t sit well with Palin who was baptized a Catholic but began attending non-denominational Christian churches when she was young. At the age of 12, Palin was baptized in the Wasilla Assembly of God, a Pentecostal church whose preacher bordered on fundamentalist.

“While I appreciate the fact that Spanish is the Pope’s first language, I believe that as I previously stated, he should speak American while in America,” Palin said.

FILIPINOS BETTER OFF THAN U.S. CITIZENS COME 2016 OLYMPICS IN RIO DE JANEIRO

CaptureRIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Philippine citizens may have a hard time visiting the United States on business or tourism, but the Filipinos are better off than U.S. citizens when it comes to the 2016 Summer Olympics to be held next year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Philippine citizens need a visa to enter the United States and thousands are denied their visa applications year after year. This, despite the fact that U.S. citizens do not need a Philippine visa when traveling to the island nation as long as they do not stay beyond 30 days.

But when it comes to Brazil,  Filipinos have an advantage over U.S. citizens.  Philippine citizens do not need a visa to enter Brazil, but U.S. citizens do.

So when it comes to the 2016 Summer Olympics, Filipinos will have the last laugh, while U.S. citizens will be scratching their heads trying to complete and submit the strict visa application requirements.

Oh, did we already mention the visa processing fee of $160?

Last June, Brazil’s tourism minister said that the country may lift its visa requirements so that Americans can come to see the 2016 Rio Olympics, but nothing has yet been made official.
