SENATOR CHIZ ESCUDERO OFFICIALLY DECLARES CANDIDACY FOR PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT, NAMES VP RUNNINGMATE

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – After weeks of speculation in the media and in political circles, Senator Chiz Escudero today officially declared that he was running for president of the Philippines in 2016.

Much of the speculation centered on Escudero and Senator Grace Poe.  Poe currently leads in national polls on the people’s choice to succeed NoyNoy Aquino.

Many expected Escudero and Poe to run in tandem, although there was deep division among political analysts on who would run for president or vice president. Escudero also put that speculation to rest by announcing his vice presidential runningmate, and it is not Poe.

It is current Vice President Jejomar Binay!

REPUBLICANS PUSH NEW LAW TO PROTECT EMPLOYERS WHO FIRE SINGLE WOMEN FOR GETTING PREGNANT

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage in all of the U.S.,  Republicans are pushing legislation that aims to protect Americans who oppose these unions on religious grounds.

Believing that marriage is between one man and one woman  whose unions are for the sole purpose of procreation, Republican members of Congress are about to propose what they are calling the ‘First Amendment Defense Act‘ that creates a license for employers to discriminate against, and fire women for getting pregnant outside of wedlock.

The bill specifically protects those who believe that marriage is between “one man and one woman” or that “sexual relations are properly reserved to such a marriage.” Ian Thompson, a legislative representative at the American Civil Liberties Union, said that in addition to targeting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, the bill “clearly encompasses discrimination against single mothers” and would hobble the ability of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal body that protects women from sex-based discrimination, to act.

The bill would, unfortunately, also discriminate against single women impregnated by married members of Congress. After all, the law applies to everyone. No exceptions.

U.S. TO IMPORT FACEKINIS FROM CHINA

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles® )  – It’s summertime and that means millions of Americans will be heading down to the beach to beat the warm temperatures. But this is also causing great alarm among U.S. health officials because of the fact that skin cancer, mostly from sun exposure, is the most common of all cancers. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of their lifetime.

But not to worry.  The U.S. has placed an order of 50 crates of ‘facekinis’ expected to arrive from China in time for peak summer season.  The government will distribute the crates equally among the 50 states.

Facekinis are face masks that have become popular among middle-aged women in China who enjoy going to the beach on a regular basis.  The mask covers the entire head and face except for small openings for the eyes, nose and mouth. It is considered more durable, economical and effective than sunscreens and other protective creams.

A word of caution, however: if wearing the facekini, make sure to still apply sunscreen around your eyes, and on your nose and lips, otherwise you will end up looking like Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer or having black eyes and lips like Edward Scissorhands.

Also, Americans are being warned about fake facekinis that are manufactured by fly-by-night entrepreneurs. In other words, Fakekinis.
